Good Grief, I've been held captive for hours watching the 18 inning marathon Astros-Braves game today. Thankfully, the Astros rewarded this long-term couch surfing by actually winning it after about 6 hours of game play.

So this game goes down as the longest post season game in history, in both time played, and innings. The previous innings stretch in the post season was the horrible 16 inning game between the Astros and Mets back in 1986. that one broke my heart, but this one, was much, much happier.

Both teams used all of their rosters except for last night's pitcher, and the pitchers who would be going tomorrow, if the Braves had won today, but instead, Roger Clemens comes in in the 13th and manages to be the winning pitcher, making our next game against the Cardinals...much like last year.

Nothing's ever easy for these guys. This was definitely a difficult one, but it's not like we haven't experienced worse. Onward we go!

I am not even an Astros fan, but I nearly cried when Bagwell came to the plate. Its gonna happen, I know it. its going to be Gibson/dodgers all over again. Its gonna be a close game, in the late innings, Bags is going to come out and just make every Houstonian shriek in joy.

*sigh*
now, on to the Yanks.

I'd prefer to hold that moment for Bagwell if/when we get to the World Series. This is just the division playoffs, so there's a long road ahead of us here.

I'd be more than happy to help Bagwell come out, though.

Yeah, we're just behind the Braves in playoff futility (you actually have been to some world series, and even won one), but yes, I'm sure Brave fans are awfully frustrated with their performance.

frustrated? they played great. I can't imagine the Braves could have done anything better in this game. (besides win.) Watch out next year though, the baby Braves won't be babies for long.

"held captive"?? Did you consider changing the channel or turning off the TV? Instant emmancipation! LOL

Ahh, but once you start, you just can't walk out. Any other game, sure, but not playoff games.

However, I was not. I can't wear Astros gear on game days, or they lose. It's a time-tested problem.

*sigh* Yeah, this, coupled with the last-second Falcons loss, really made my day...

And ya kinda get tired of saying "maybe next year" after 9 years....

Well, try "maybe next year" after 42 years! Of course I'm not that old, so that doesn't totally count, but I hope the Astros go to the World Series sometime soon. I've been waiting since 1980, our first post-season!

As for the Falcons, at least they aren't the Texans. They really suck.

I only saw the beginning of the game and then had to go to do the matinee. I kept getting scoring updates as the show progressed. I didn't know the Astros had prevailed until I was heading out to do the final Montage where Eva dies. I had all I could to do not whoop as Eva was taking her final breath:)

In addition to Roger Clemens getting the victory, the game included a record with the 2 grand slams in a post season game. The Astros relievers pitched 13 2/3 innings, giving up only one run. The game set a record for the total number of pitches thrown. WOW!

Go 'Stros!!!!

There were a lot of crazy records in that game. It was one of the strangest games I've ever seen, and I saw the 22-inning game against the Dodgers back in the 1980's!

Hmm, so would the raincoat thugs have to come after you if you gave a cheer during Santa Evita's death? A new Argentina indeed.
