Bring on the Cardinals!
Oct. 9th, 2005 06:11 pmGood Grief, I've been held captive for hours watching the 18 inning marathon Astros-Braves game today. Thankfully, the Astros rewarded this long-term couch surfing by actually winning it after about 6 hours of game play.

So this game goes down as the longest post season game in history, in both time played, and innings. The previous innings stretch in the post season was the horrible 16 inning game between the Astros and Mets back in 1986. that one broke my heart, but this one, was much, much happier.
Both teams used all of their rosters except for last night's pitcher, and the pitchers who would be going tomorrow, if the Braves had won today, but instead, Roger Clemens comes in in the 13th and manages to be the winning pitcher, making our next game against the Cardinals...much like last year.
Nothing's ever easy for these guys. This was definitely a difficult one, but it's not like we haven't experienced worse. Onward we go!

Date: 2005-10-10 12:44 am (UTC)In addition to Roger Clemens getting the victory, the game included a record with the 2 grand slams in a post season game. The Astros relievers pitched 13 2/3 innings, giving up only one run. The game set a record for the total number of pitches thrown. WOW!
Go 'Stros!!!!
