Damn. Bob ([livejournal.com profile] bobaloo) is going to be on Sirius Out Q in the 9 o'clock (central time) hour, when I'll be at work. Wonder if I can sneak in some listening.

Random things:

In further proof that it takes very little for this city to be star-struck, Michael Jackson popped up in a local mall yesterday and caused a big commotion. shopping with a friend, he was mobbed, but stayed nice and greeted others. My guess is that he's trying to develop public goodwill. Publicity is an everyday job. He picked up some teddybears and left.

I thought he would have to stay in California. Wish he would.

The lips are healing. Crest Whitening Sensations should come with a warning. It's "Warming Sensations" for your mouth.

Unfortunately my cough has been continuing. I'm not sure where it came from, but I've had a little cough for over a week. May explain my energy drain, too.

The Democratic Convention is boring to watch, but the recaps seem to show that they are staying on message, and have been working hard to paint John Kerry as a moderate presidential candidate. They manage to carefully script the whole thing. It's a different message from the of the campaign for the last few months. Now everything will be targeted to the center. They already have the Bush hating crowd, so they need to motivate the center. Good strategy.

Funny, I think the Republicans will be on the same track, with mostly moderate speakers. Still, they seem to be following the strategy of only appealing to their base, and hoping for low voter turnout. We'll see if that changes.

On thing that will be difficult for the Republicans is to paint GW as a moderate candidate. We have almost 4 years of evidence against this. John Kerry is more of an enigma and it's easy to change his image now.

So what will make you vote? Centrist candidates? Fear of losing the War on Terror? Fear of losing ground on civil rights? Despite the positive spin, it all comes down to choosing the best of the worst, and they need you to be scared to get you to the polls. It will be interesting to see what issues will continue to develop. (Obviously Stem-Cell research isn't electrifying, and strangely abortion has evaporated in favor of same-sex marriage)

It's still a long way to November.
