Today while at work I get a call from Alice from Running Rats Acres Apartments (damn, I going to miss that name). Alice in her little, nice lease-my-apartment voice she asks me if I'm ready to sign my new lease.

Knowing that yet again the office had messed up and lost my 30 notice, I had to tell her I was leaving. Her voice turned grimmer and she asked why I was leaving.

Should I really tell her? Her office can't keep books for anything. They always lost payments and such. The apartments are nerve exterminated, the place is kind of dark, and the laundry rooms don't work that often. The place isn't too terrible, I mean it is livable, but when you can do better, you go. The Houston apartment community is so saturated right now, that there's some really good deals to be had, and if I can go from a thirty year-old apartment into a three year old unit, well what would you do.

I told her to be closer to work. A simple answer that was also a lie. The new place is across the street, ostensibly a couple of yards farther away. The lie is one of convenience, because I could get her off the phone so much faster, and I could get back to work. I'm pretty much sure she knew it too, but that wasn't my concern at the time.

If I really think I could improve the place with my comments, I think I could be more effective by writing them down. Then again, they'd probably lose it.

I remember some beautiful high rise apartments across from the Galleria there. I used to always tell myself to go in and act like I was loaded with money and tour the penthouse, but I always chickened out. I used to stay at the Drury Inn and the were across the highway from there. They may have even been condos. Good luck with the new apartment.

There's a lot of high-rise condos in the Galleria area. There's not to many apartments, and nothing in my price range right now. My new place will still cost over $700 a month -and that's enough! I know where that Drury Inn is, too bad you don't come back to these parts more frequently.

Thanks for the well wishes!
