Just a few notes about last evening. I had dinner at David's [livejournal.com profile] davomatic place (You know, it's getting hard to figure out which David is whom around here. I know many of you have the same problem with Mikes and Johns. Really, parents should spread names out a little more).

Davo cooked a fine, fine spaghetti with meatballs and I, brought some cheap Kroger garlic bread and a nice dark Pinot Noir that I got at Spec's (otherwise known in Houston as "The Temple". They are a chain of very well stocked spirit distributors).

Yes, in case you were wondering, Davo's apartment is really cool. Lots of great art and little trinkets.

The reason was that Matty [livejournal.com profile] mattycub and Kenny [livejournal.com profile] pridekill were in town visiting Davo. They left this afternoon. I think they were put off by the heat! Again, good to see them all.

Along with dinner we watched the '70s classic Zardoz, starring a oddly savage-looking Sean Connery. Kenny was incredibly funny adding an MST3K touch to what otherwise is an absolutely inexplicable movie. This is one of those films that the plot can be put into two sentences and then the filmmakers went "but wouldn't it be cool/trippy if we did..."

Note to Kenny: Sometime we're going to have to sit down and talk more. You're really cool, but every-time we meet we're surrounded by everyone else. The short jaunt to Kroger was fun.

After a few games of some X-men fighting each other thing on Davo's game cube, I again realized that I am not made for any game that takes more than one big red button in the right hand corner of the joystick. They just need to re-release the Atari 2600 and its games. That I can do.

Kenny and Davo were feeling sleepy, Matty and I were too, but we kept talking for a while. I know this is going to sound sappy, but even though we've only known each other for a few months, I'm really glad to have Matty's friendship. He's very understanding and I've been able to talk to him about some issues and concerns that I haven't been able to do with others. I'll probably have to call on his strength a few more times in the future. If there's anything I can do for him...all he needs to do is call.

He's very nifty.

I've been tired all day today. Two nights not getting home until 3am will do that to you. I've just been bumming around the house. I'm going to go grab a free meal with my folks. Tomorrow is errand day, and I must get the car inspected. Ugh.

Any leftovers Davo?

There's a wonderful satisfaction in having your home filled with laughter, thank you for being a part of it.

Alas, as of a few minutes the leftovers disappeared. *burp*

Well, I must thank you for inviting me over. The evening was a lot of fun. I'd offer to cook for you...but I don't know how big of a fan of Hamburger Helper you are.

The laughter is inexpensive, and given freely.

Oh, and Trevor's adorable!

Pitfall, anyone?

I love Atari and have not been very interested in whatever modern video game advances have occurred since. In fact, I have an Atari 2600 with about fifty games in my closet, which I take out when I need a fresh dose.

Awwww...I think you're pretty nifty too, Michael. I'm glad this wacky medium introduced us, as I've really enjoyed getting to know you. You're good people.

*hug*
