Give Me Five

Five years ago today I met a guy at a restaurant known for it's fried food and queso. It was a little meeting at lunch, since we missed meeting each other the week before as I had gone to austin at the last minute, and didn't go to a Rugby game in Houston.
Nothing was said on that day that was to show what was to come, except a little note in my entry that over lunch I kept babbling on and on. While then it was from being nervous, i still find that I'm the one that can babble more about nothing than he can.
Somewhere along the way I thought last year was the five year mark, but a check the other day of my journal showed that I was wrong. I won't say it's our anniversary, it wasn't the day we fell in love, or decided to date or anything. Today is but a date to remember when we first met.
Still, five years. Not too shabby. I, for one am damn glad it happened. And like I still love fried foods and queso - sometimes even together, I still love Chris as well.

Date: 2008-02-13 12:41 am (UTC)And I'm sorry that you had to leave the beautiful scenery at the ranch, but I know you'll be happier in a different kind of "greener pasture" :^)

Date: 2008-02-15 05:08 am (UTC)Yeah, I worked in Houston with the view of a freeway for many years, so it's not really an issue that I don't see the lake and cattle. There actually is a small retention pond at the new workplace, but I don't know if my cube will overlook it, or the parking lot. Hopefully, being happier with the job will make the difference.

Date: 2008-02-20 07:43 pm (UTC)I can't even say that I've done anything for five consecutive years (certainly not a job). Congratulations nonetheless, and here's to many more years. ;)

Date: 2008-02-15 04:48 am (UTC)Most people have a hard time figuring out which date to put down as their anniversary.
I personally believe the entire purpose of Marriage is simply to provide a date. On THIS date.
But you both are awesome. Congrats again.

Date: 2008-02-15 05:17 am (UTC)Really, the anniversary is a tough thing to pin down. I think we decided to really start dating sometime in June or July of 2003, but neither of us really remembers. I just know the meeting date since we were supposed to meet up a week earlier, but it didn't happen as I got an invite to go to Austin for the weekend. Of course Chris was invited to go to Austin, but went to Houston instead thinking he'd meet me there. It's all good though, and it worked out for the best.
