Sep. 22nd, 2005 04:53 amI'm just about to shut down everything electronic here at the house. In about 30 minutes I will be taking off for Austin. Unfortunately every freeway in town is full, and it's taking hours to get anywhere. Cars are running out of gas and overheating. Frankly, I'm scared. I'm scared that my car, with it's high mileage is going to have trouble with this. I'm scare that there's going to be nothing to come back to. I'm scared that I won't have a job.
Crap.

Date: 2005-09-22 01:05 pm (UTC)It's almost certainly too late for this advice to be helpful, but another time it might be a good idea to avoid the main highways and take surface roads. They are unlikely to be as busy. They also are much friendlier towards things like stopping for gas, food, water, or car problems.
*hugs*

Date: 2005-09-22 04:13 pm (UTC)I've seen where the hurricane is now poised to make landfall somewhere closer to Beaumont now; maybe even somewhere further east. If that's the case, we'll be on the clean side of the storm.
Hope you have a safe trip!
