Hans and Naima were in town tonight, mainly for the fact that we're going to tomorrows Astros/Rangers game. Of course the game's in the afternoon, which means it will be wicked hot, but that's what he decided on. I told him that they play on Friday night and sunday night...but no.
Still, I talked up about BD's mongolian grill a while back, and he was interested to go there, but there was one problem. all the BD's in the Metroplex have closed, so we had to go to their copycat, Gengis Grill. Not quite as good, and for some reason tonight the crowd there was just a step up from the crowd you'd find at your local Cici's pizza or Panchos buffet. The food was good though, and I was glad it was after we were made to wait 20 minutes for a table. the photo above was taken outside as we were waiting. Chris has his ginormus camera with him.
Hans is one of my best frat brothers from Houston. Naima is a sister from the sorority I belong to (as an honorary member, though I was once asked to join). Hans and Naima were wed a few years ago, about the time I started this journal. I was best man at their wedding. I'm glad to see that they are still doing very well, and that they would take the time to come up here and see us. Naima had several stories about her first year as an English teacher in an inner city school. Hans has been working on Fox Sports for many years.
While Hans and I are very excited about the game tomorrow despite the reported heat, Naima is more ecited about the prospect of shopping tomorrow. I'm not sure whether to send her to the Galleria, Northpark or Stonebriar Center. If there's one thing Dallas is famous for, it's shopping.
Of course tonight was mostly a journey through the exciting sights of Addison! Really, once you've seen one chain resturant, you've seen them all. Still, I wonder if I could get the normally shy-about-gay-stuff Hans to go out dancing at TMC tomorrow?
