My shoulders are way, way sunburned. It's been really unpleasant today. Of course it's still blazing hot here in Texas, just making it all worse.

What happened over the weekend was that I decided to go to Dallas. Sure, I was sorry to miss Jerry's ([livejournal.com profile] goofycubb) birthday dinner in Galveston, but as I was thinking about my choices for the weekend, it was easier to go to Dallas. for one thing, if I went down to Galveston dinner with Jerry would be it, since the listing of activities for Bear Watch showed that they were going to keep those that didn't register away, and there isn't a lobby to be a good whore in. I missed seeing some of the other people, like Alex ([livejournal.com profile] darke), Jack ([livejournal.com profile] adminbear) and the cubbies who were also there.

So off to Dallas I went. Saturday morning Chris ([livejournal.com profile] f__k) had softball practice in the morning, so that started my time in the sun for the weekend. We took Joey the Dog with us, and I gave her a long walk around the park that tired both of us out. After that we saw Star Wars. We ate at Razzoo's where the young waitress asked what we would be doing after lunch and we mentioned seeing Star Wars. She then said, "Oh yeah, that's really good. Now I have to see part four." Chris and I kind of looked at each other and had to ask if she had ever seen the original trilogy, and she said no. I personally am mystified at being so young to actually be sing the whole series in its "intended" order, and how awkward seeing it that way, with out the prior knowledge must be.

Still, the movie was good. Not great mind you. I liked Ewan McGregor, and he was looking good, and he pulled off the second best acting job in a movie not known for good acting. The best actor was Yoda. Let's hear it for the animated muppet. Otherwise, there was a moment, and I think [livejournal.com profile] legionbear mentioned it, that struck me as really funny, even though it's supposed to be poignant and meaningful, but it comes off as strangely, humorously odd. Chris thinks it's because you know the character in the later trilogy, and it just doesn't seem right how it seems out of character.

Oh, will someone tell me how old Padme is? she doesn't age from Episode I to Episode III, plus she has the fastest gestation period ever.

Then we managed to go home and fall asleep in the early evening - for several hours, then woke up and continued our slow trek through watching episodes of Firefly.

On Sunday we went out to watch Chris' softball game, were they lead for a while, but finally succumbed to a late rally by the kids. At the end of the game they needed to take Chris' jersey so they could use it for a fill-in player next week, leaving Chris shirtless before lunch. It's not like Chris couldn't get it back to you after it was washed. So we went to where Chris could get a shirt - Zeus. Since Richard still hasn't made any new Zeus T-shirts, Chris settled for a green Lantern shirt and off we went to lunch.

After than we went to Drew's for a pool party, and found James ([livejournal.com profile] moved) there. I spent a lot of time in the pool, shirtless, and should have gone for some more sunscreen somewhere in the middle of it. Still, there was fun to be had with throwing the ball around, and playing with/taunting Drew's kids. It was also so much cooler to stay in the water than to get out, as it was nearly 100 degrees.

Let me tell you, James really doesn't like to be touched or anything. He'll run right away from any sort of cuddling and such.

Once I found out that I was starting to burn it was way to late. now my upper arms and shoulders are a bright, bright pink.

I kissed Chris goodbye, saw the note that a horny cub left on my windsheild, and drove home last night turning the air conditioner way up in the car. It also sapped my strength, so when I reached the Houston city limits around 1am, I was struggling to stay awake. Today the workshirt was totally bugging me, and I was tired.

Of course to make things better, the skid plate under my car is trying to fall off again. It did fall off about three months ago, and I never did find exactly the right bolts for it, so I'm not surprised, just disappointed. I'm sure some dolt at a jiffy lube lost one of them and weakened the rest - but I've never found exactly the part that fits. Now I'll have to do it.

Oh, and the Texas Legislature put the Same-Sex discrimination in the Texas constitution with a November vote. Great. I've never trusted the legislature, as any good Texan, but now I've never been so disgusted with my state.
