1. I just got back from having dinner with my good friend John, one of my old frat brothers. We went to the new BW-3 in Pearland, which is several miles south of my apartment. John was a wanting to go out since his wife and kids were out of town.

Somewhere along the way john was talking about sex, or lack of it and mentioned casually that he didn't last very long about 15 minutes. I said according to what I've heard, that's significantly longer than the average man. I said to him, "What's up with you straight men not being able to keep it up for a longer period of time?" It's my experience that most gay fellas have a bit more control and longevity. I could be wrong about that, my experience isn't all that extensive, but perhaps us gay boys are just more in tune with our equipment.

John didn't know exactly, but I was gathering that everything was involved with the quickness and frequency of what John actually gets from his wife. This wasn't unknown to me. I'd guess he really gets excited when it does come along, and - bam. Just another mindset, I suppose.

2. I'm going to Baltimore next month. My sister has wanted me to see her in her new city, and I'm interested, as always, to travel to other parts of the country I've never been to. I've only been to the Atlantic states of Florida and Georgia, never farther north (and really, it was only part of Georgia that touches Florida).

The flight wasn't the best, a late night flight on Saturday the 11th, and returning in the morning on Wednesday, via Chicago on American. I was hoping to expand the time, but for an airfare of $150, you do what you can. To get the times I wanted meant spending more than twice as much.

The highlight of the trip will be getting to see the Astros play the Orioles in Camden Yards. Laura's already got the tickets for Tuesday through her work...but still her office is in the warehouse at Camden Yards, so she gets to see all sorts of games. Of course we've been talking about driving over to Washington DC and seeing what's going on there. I wonder if I could see a Nationals game? I still hope to see all of the teams at home someday.

I should probably ask Paul ([livejournal.com profile] barecub) about who to go see in the Maryland area.

3. Speaking of places to go, this weekend I'm trying to decide whether to stay in the area and head to Galveston to see who's at Bear Watch, or go up to Dallas to spend more time with Chris ([livejournal.com profile] f__k).

I didn't buy a pass to Bear watch, so I'm not in or out anything as far as cash there. Really, I'm not so much looking to go to a bear event, but Alex ([livejournal.com profile] darke) and Jack ([livejournal.com profile] adminbear) will be there, so it would be an opportunity to spend some time with them. Really, I've been to Bear Watch before, and I wasn't so impressed with the event, nor do I really want to stay at the host hotel (it's really a flea-bag), so I wasn't planning to pay for it. Sure I'll not be allowed to go to the clothing-optional pool party, and I'll have to drive the 50 miles, but that's not so bad of a trade off.

Still, it just isn't sparking much interest in me.

I could go to Dallas, see chris and see him play some more baseball. he'll be here in Houston for Memorial Day (hooray), but I miss him now. Plus, he has been invited to a couple of Dallas pool parties if that really needs to happen. It's more driving, but sometimes that's worth it. Heck, I don't even know if I'll go down to Galveston even if I stayed here.

I guess I'll have to decide soon.

4. I found something really cool today. In talking about Jim Jones today, I felt I had to look up a song that I remember from a local Houston band in the 1980's, and i found it. There's a site for The Judy's, and actually had where you can listen to their song Guyana Punch, from their 1981 album, Washarama. The song is quite hysterical.

The page also includes links to an album from local Houston 80's band The Dishes. My friend Jim and I used to follow the band from gig to gig, at one time getting rather well known by the bandmembers. I still have the album on cassette and vinyl. My favorite song is their big "hit" Girls With Glasses.

Neither groups records were ever put on CD. It was way to early for a local band to have a CD burned. It was great to hear them on Real Player (though I loathe Real player). What I'd really want is to have MP3's of these songs so I can play them on my iPod and love these songs all over again. I wish I had a way to do that.

Ahh, the memories of all those years ago.
