Not Your Typical TBRU Post
Mar. 19th, 2005 10:49 amBeen an interesting weekend so far. Lots of ups and downs. We've spent some time seeing people playing taxi service too and from the airport here, picking up
joezer,
dedos, and
ericdabear, plus just seeing so many great people in all sorts of places.
Of course getting out to lunch and dinner seems to be the odd thing. There's bee some good things, like lunch on Thursday with Chris, Chris and Kip, and odd things like meeting Will (
sfobear) at a Whataburger next to the third overflow hotel. Yes, the event is that big. There's also the Cylon waitress who was there reappearing at regular intervals to make sure we were OK at Texas Land and Cattle when we went out with
tuc1 and
spargel. I was always curious what had happened to Vickie from Small Wonder.
Otherwise, The event seems to be chugging along. The new host hotel is nice. Probably a little too nice. There a group of regular folks staying in the hotel that have already complained about lewd behavior because some people couldn't keep it in their pants. Before
bobaloo's show he had to read a statement to that effect. There's always someone who thinks that a bear run makes the whole place the Parliament House. Just because the hotel was nice enough to fly the pride flag (which I was surprised) probably makes it more of a warning, as well as a welcome. Sort of a Jolly Roger for the weekend.
The Price is Wrong, Bitch was a great show. Bob really studied the whole thing, and had everything going. He had the perfect backers with Duane and the go-for-it-all Rasa from Punch-Drunk comedy. They were hilarious. Bob had different pricing games, with bear run twists, like enemas, and Rid and lube. I was a part of the "Which bear comes closest to the actual retail weight" game, along with
mnsourcer, and
jamesbeary. I was actually the winning answer, holding a card that was only 5 pounds off of my weight (kind of embarrassing, really) while the others were further off. Still the contest and picked David (I was happy that I could keep a good poker face) and the contestant lost the prize, which was cheesecake and pizza. Darn. Did I tell you I was in my boxers? Yeah. Let's just say my exhibitionist days are over for now. A few hundred people saw me in my drawers. Maybe they have pictures. Ask them.
I was already tired and hungry after the show was over, but i was hoping dinner would pick me up. Chris and I worked on getting a group together and we headed off to Chili's where the stupid waiter didn't help things. I felt bad that I had recommended to go to Chili's (you know, something for everyone) and then it was a bad experience. For one thing, I ordered a Chili's Trip. This is a somewhat difficult thing, I'll admit, since it hasn't been on the menu for about ten years, but it's a chili-cheeseburger with onions (I ask for them to remove the onions). Every Chili's has a list of all the old burgers, and most waiters who've been around will learn a few of them so when people order them, they won't look like total fools. Still, I spelled out to him exactly what came on the burger. Yet, my burger had everything but chili when it arrived. given that the guy didn't even know to bring out appetizers before the entrees (we had to ask) nor did he ever refill my drink, I decided I was too hungry to try to get him to fix it, and didn't want to put up a big, bitchy fight in front of everyone.
Needless to say, no tip.
Still, it was good to see everyone. Right now, I'm going to get dressed, take Joey for a walk, and figure out what I'm going to do for the day.
