Moving them along
Nov. 15th, 2003 11:18 amWell, I'm here in Dallas again. Chris has run off to work, and I'll be heading over to my sister's and then going to lunch. I'm not so sure what I'll be doing for the afternoon. It's extremely good to be in Chris' arms again.
Tomorrow night we go see Barenaked Ladies in concert and I cannot wait. Their new album has been excellent and I can't wait to here it live. It's at a small venue, all up close and personal. All the concerts I've seen them in have been in the large outdoor sheds, and I've never had great tickets. I have a line on a good ticket for the Houston show, so I may leave earlier on Monday so I can go see them there, too.
Yesterday was the last day for Morgan to be with my group. Morgan has been with me for about two years, and in that time I've seen him get married, buy a house and mature. Morgan is moving to another team to be a supervisor.
I'm sad to see him go because he was beyond competent (and the fun of seeing Greg drool over him). while not the fastest or even the most accurate, he was certainly the one I could trust with an assignment the most. After a while, it got to the point that I had him leading small groups, setting him up for his new leadership role. He knew that he wanted to go into management, and that's a direction I tried to point him towards.
The last three new supervisors have come from my group. I lament the loss of good people (and the pickings are really slim around here), but I'm proud that they move on to something better. It looks good on me, too. I might be bored off my ass somedays, and I may hate the fact that I'm having to be a babysitter more and more as we run through the stock of competent folks, but I can actually help people with their goals, and I can actually lead them to success. This I'm very proud of.
Damnit, I can do this job!
