Thursday Randomness
May. 29th, 2003 08:46 amI spent a lot of last evening just staring at my resume. Not changing it, not making the revisions it needed. It's a couple of years old now, and has my old job title of Associate Development Specialist (read: Trainer) that I had before moving up to Supervisor.
I need to fix it, but i can't figure out how. What skills have I gained that I didn't have before? What's changed except that I'm responsible for what my team does (yes, I will add that). All of the other skills, what they may be, are pretty much the same. I have dealt with some high-level projects, but they look pretty generic being placed into a word or two on a page.
I need to finish this. I have two of my former team-members who are ready to take my resume to their new HR departments. I should take advantage of that.

Nick's
uberdaddybear writing assignment for yesterday was to write about your favorite teachers. I could go on, but I'm going to try to keep it short.
Mrs. Ozment - She encouraged out-of-the-box thinking and did a lot of games and activities in her social-studies class. Made it more a look at how civilizations work in a living, breathing sense, rather than the bland look at dusty historical accounts.
Becky Bell - Yep, everyone knew Becky by her first name. High school Drama teacher and facilitator for the weird drama crowd. I knew her for all four years of HS, and knew her better tan any other teacher. she would allow us to lounge around in class with coffee mugs, watch movies and skip classes in her lounge. We were all proud when she decided to get up and go to New York to find her career. she taught me that i never, ever wanted to get stuck in a job I didn't like...something I'm working on right now.
Mr. Moses - Now that I know he was hot...well. Bearded male teacher of 5th grade, but I didn't understand that then. First male role model outside of my family. We were a smart class and were allowed to do an experiment for the entire year. Free-form learning. He set up several stations and it was up to you to spend time in each one during the week. All self-paced, and you had electives. I always ended up in the media stations (including one where I could listen to James Taylor albums). Also my first exposure to a VCR (this was 1977, you can guess how big that thing was) and TV camera. I loved doing commercial spoofs. Best learning experience I ever had. i wish all of the school years could have been like that.
No, the band directors don't make the list. They were assholes. The high school one was a closeted drunk, the college one was a homophobic back-stabber. Band was fun, directors were not.

Lastly, Nick's assignment for today...Fetishes.
Something I haven't explored much of, so what I do have seem to be based on looks, not actions. Chris and I were chatting on IM last night about some of this. I'm interested in sports gear, and even have a couple of jerseys, but I don't think it's a big deal. I like sports, I like the men in sports, so I guess the gear works.
I also like redheads. It's exotic and there seems to be a spirit to redheads that makes getting to know them fun.
I've helped another person with his fetish once or twice. It was fun, and something I'd look to explore again with him if I get the chance, but I'm not sure it's one of my fetishes. I'd think I'd keep that activity to just him, unless I found I really liked it. Not a widespread thing, you know.
Just remember, I'm an old fratboy, so I have the equipment for that around the house (*Swat*).
How does one find/develop a fetish anyway? I like the look of leather, but is it a fetish? If I spend several dollars on it and find it's not for me, then I've wasted that, haven't I? Hmm. I don't mind being vanilla, but there's a whole world out there to look over...we'll just have to see.
