Wide Blue Yonder
Mar. 19th, 2003 09:08 amI've been keeping my thoughts about the upcoming war to myself. It seems a bit unimportant what I think, and I've stayed a bit blissfully away from news reports and such. So unlike the normal news-junky that I've been in the past.
My thoughts actually turn to Dane Leach, another Fraternity Brother, who's somewhere out there, deployed with a transport group of C-130's. We swap emails now and again, and for the last 7 years he tells me what part of the world the Air Force has sent him off too. About a week ago he said that he was getting ready for deployment, leaving his wife and two kinds at the base in Abilene.
Being a mechanic in the Air Force means that he's likely to stay safe, but still I have to hand it to the men and women who've signed up for this duty. Right or wrong, they're going into harms way for us.
Dane wants out. Has been for about a year now, and can't do it. He's been all over the world, seeing more of it than he has his family. After this...hopefully.
