Back, to the Future.
Jan. 2nd, 2003 12:38 amFirst, it’s time to wish
demoncleanernha very happy birthday!
Other people were answering this the other day, so I took some time to answer; still, it’s a pretty good review of 2002.
Five Things that 2002 taught me:
1. I can be independent and live in the big city.
2. People can and are attracted to me. What a surprise.
3. I’m getting better about liking myself. Confidence is building. Still, there are issues…I will deal with. (Hey, I actually lost weight this year!!!)
4. I am so damn naïve when it comes to the gay community. I’m 5 to 10 years behind everyone else. How old can you still fell cubbish?
5. I still like work, but I think I’ve learned as much as I can in my current position. I’m burning out. I need to be re-inspired.
Five personally significant events of 2002:
1. Moving back into town, which allows myself to get out more.
2. Traveling to Montreal for the Astros/Expos game and Pride by myself, and finding a great guide to the Village.
3. Hooking up with John T.
4. Hooking up with John T. again. (Seriously! Not shying away from going further and trying to see where this all may lead. This is probably the most significant piece of personal development this past year)
5. The death of my grandmother ends a 2-year season of loss for my family and me.
Five things I want to do in 2003:
1. Get out more in the community. Explore more about the life I haven’t led. Make more gay friends. Travel to a bear run.
2. Work out more and get stronger. For myself, not to impress others.
3. See where the relationship with John T. goes.
4. Get more sexually active and perhaps experimental. (whee!)
5. Look for opportunities to make a job change – not necessarily to another company, but perhaps a new position.
Five things I don't want to do in 2003:
1. Lose another person I’m close too.
2. Let my needs to be comfortable, and sometimes isolated keep me from getting out and trying some new things.
3. Feeling lonely. Get out and do something about it. You have friends, damnit!
4. Stay in place in my job. It’s time for a challenge.
5. Be scared of change in my life.
Five people who I'd like to know better in 2003:
1. John T., of course. I have know IDEA what will happen, but here's to the ride...
2. Tom, aka
invisiblebear, because although several situations are different, I totally understand several of the emotions he expresses in his prolific journal.
3. Ray, aka
paganbear, who’s story and beliefs fascinates me and, at least from his writings, seems to be a really beautiful soul (and the pictures are sexy, too).
4. Jeff from work, who is a really good guy, but sadly, straight.
5. Alex, aka
darke, and several other LJer’s whom I’m getting to know, including, but not limited to
theevilnub,
bigrock,
ericdabear,
ilorsodirettore,
jtinstc,
pornocuband so many more - I should stop. You all have great stories and could probably teach me a lot. Here’s hoping I’ll meet some of you in 2003!
