I love that the state of Texas still charges extra for the "convenience" of either mailing in, or using that new fangled internet to renew your vehicle registration and license. I don't think anyone actually goes down to the courthouse to do this anymore - who has the time?

Well, I didn't get the job with the marketing department, but I know who did, and he's been with the marketing department for a couple of years. Before that, he came from my department, so now I'm just waiting for his old job to appear on the job bank, and I will apply for it.

One of the leading reasons to go for the new position is the fact that my department seems to be changing - quickly. Although they are still in my department, some people that I really like, and make the job more enjoyable, are being moved to the other side of the building. The side that I'm on is suddenly being occupied only by my team (yea!) and the losers that couldn't be moved to the other area. It's so depressing. I'll have to walk around just to have a good conversation. The latest defectors are the Star Wars freak, and Big Ed.

And no, we aren't allowed to have instant messaging. That would rock. Hence, why we don't have it.

Today is tax day here in the US. In years past this used to be a really stressful time for us, with a major increase in both phone calls and written requests as people needed information about their investments. This year has been relatively calm. Many people have remarked on it. I know exactly why - we haven't done that much business. Redemptions were up all last year, and now we just don't have as many shareholders as we once did.

Of course, since I do the 1040EZ - no property, no kids, few investments, my taxes were done ages ago. The refund was small, too. The rest of my money is probably being spent on a program that benefits someone, but probably not me - certainly not directly.

Otherwise, it's supposed to be a nice weekend in Dallas. I just have to remember to wear sunscreen at Chris' softball game!
