I got a renewal notice for my apartment last night. Because they require a 60 day move out notice, they have to start remind you rather early about signing a new lease. Last time I signed a six month lease because I was actively looking for a job in Dallas, and there wasn't a bonus for signing a longer lease. Now I guess I need to start thinking about signing another one, since the job prospects haven't been coming.

That means I'm looking at a summer here in Houston. Bring on the hurricanes.

This is very disappointing. I understand that I'm sounding like a broken record, and that why I've been trying to curtail taking about this a bit, but it's been a big frustration/depression point for me, not being able to translate myself into a decent job in Dallas. So much for this supposed "great" economy of President Bush's. Sure, you can get training if you're looking to be a coffee barrista, but otherwise, you are either fully trained with experience, or you're not worth our time.

I'm just ready to do something, anything new. Something that will get me out of this town or out of the job - either or - for a bit, so I'm even starting to look for a new job here in town. Why not? If I find a new job here in Houston that at least allows me to grow in knowledge, that's a win. A job here would probably have to have some better benefits, since I'm all alone here, you know... I'm getting real tired of sifting through job sites.

Well, now I have to shuffle off to the job I'm so bored to be at, but yet the assignments pile up on me. I look out at the pine trees outside the window, and I see their just about to bust out with all the pollen you can want. Welcome to March.

So, another six I guess. and I'll try to keep hope alive.

Sorry to hear about your job woes and I understand your frustration on the job market. I just hired my personal assistant at work.. she used to work for WorldCom, she's a frickin' bright computer [something] engineer, and it took her about a year to get hired as my personal assistant/paralegal. I read a news brief a couple days ago that financial analysts have been saying the economic outlook is at the lowest ebb in four years. Bush is full of crap.

I think you have the right outlook on the job options, hopefully looking outside the box will help you. good luck.

Its like what I said to some of my other LJ friends. I wish I could package up the jobs up here in Canada that go unfilled and send them down to you. It sucks when employers always want qualified experienced candidates. Whats worse is that they forget the simple truth; a go-getter with confidence and a clue is most times better that any hired gun anyday.

Don't give up that hope Mike. I'm still trying to get myself and roger living together happily as well.... Keep the faith that one day you'll be there... *hugs*

Just a quick note; I've started a community called [livejournal.com profile] vintagecomputer (the name about says it all) and, based upon the fact that you took the time to stick the Apple Newton on your interest list, my vast intelligence network tells me you might like it. Feel free to check it out, or not. Y'know, whichever's cool with you.
