What Song Was That That Confused Us All?
Dec. 23rd, 2004 02:01 pmSo, the answers to today's earlier Christmas music quiz are behind the cut...but first, one more pice of trivia!
Name the four US states who's state song has the same melody as "O Tannenbaum (O Christmas Tree)".
The answer is Maryland, Michigan, Iowa and New Jersey!
Alright,
1. In all, how many presents did "my true love" give over the 12 days of Christmas?
A: 364. Each day the suitor re-gives all of the other gifts, so you accumulate 12 partridges, 22, turtle doves, etc. Besides, it makes a nice package of the same number as days in a standard year, minus one.
Here's a couple of links that have cropped up in the last few hours - from
hanover, The 12 Days Of Christmas
and the debate rages in Eric's (
ericdabear) journal HERE.
2. In "The Christmas Song," what two things help to make the season bright?
A: A Turkey and some Mistletoe (Chestnuts are mentioned at the song's begining, though)
3. Where are you rocking around the Christmas tree?
A: At the Christmas party hop, not sure where that is.
4. In which Christmas song do you build a snowman and pretend he's Parson Brown?
A: Winter Wonderland, Since he's probably not ordained, he can probably do same-sex weddings.
5. In the original recording of "Grandma Got Run Over By a Reindeer" did Grandma survive the attack?
A: No. In later versions they added a line that made her demise a little more obscure, and the video showed her miraculous return, as well as a 1990's cartoon television special.
6. Who was watching the palm trees sway in Beverly Hills, L.A., dreaming of a "White Christmas"
A: Irving Berlin. Although Nat king Cole has sung the song, and Bing Crosby is most famous for it, Jewish composer Berlin wrote the most famous tune about the holiday.
Thanks for playing!
Now off into the cold to Dallas I go, off in the Ice and Snow!
Happy Holidays, Y'all!
