Damn, My hair really is thinning. Right on top. I know you can't tell, but I can. Anyone know if Rogaine is worth it? It's too early to shave it off.

Otherwise, in other disasters, the Posideon Adventure is on.

Honestly, you're better off learning to just accept that your body is not something you ordered/put together, and not buying into the whole "must prevent hair loss" chemical charade.

Not being snarky, just pointing out the obvious. Once you start down that slipperly slope, what else are you going to spends lot of money on to fix? Wrinkles? Grey hair? Our bodies are ever changing. It's ok :) There are lots of things I'd RATHER have about my body, but I generally look in the mirror and think "well, it's not like I picked it out at Macys, and it's done me pretty well so far...I'll keep it" ;)

Yes, I'm throwing too much weight on such a small thing. It's just vanity. I guess I want to think through the options before I succumb to the inevitable. Body image has been a struggle for me, and now, since I'm starting to lose weight for the first time in years, I guess I'm still sensitive.

My growing number of grey hairs haven't been a problem, though.

Thanks for the positive outlook.

Glad you took it as such, it was meant that way. Many people get pissy when I suggest to them "Your body is decaying, it's only downhill from here. If you aren't happy now, what do you think you'll be like in 10 years?". :D There's probably a much nicer and less direct way to put it, but I prefer the basic truth.

Besides, I think you're damn fine the way you are. :) I know that doesn't count for much, it's how WE feel in our OWN bodies. But still. As a friend once told me in a bad spot in my life "if you can't believe in yourself, at least believe in your friends. they love ya for a reason". Same can be applied here. Self image can't be gotten from others, but sometimes they can help you on the path. :)

I *really* need to get to Houston and chat you up for dinner or something. :)

Thanks again. It's a learning process, but I have to admidt that I've grown a lot in 2002 - lots of positives. That makes be more receptive to constructive criticism than I used to be. Still, I can be really shy when I don't feel right about myself.

"I'm good enough, smart enough, and doggonit, people like me" :-)

I would love to have you over - the invite is there. There always San Antonio, too, but work's got me stuck in town for the next several weeks.

If you really think it's important, then you should consider using Rogaine/Minoxidil. The problem with this plan of treatment is it's lifelong...unless medicine finds something new. You would also have to start now, since these two drugs prevent hair loss (although it's efficacy varies from individual to individual). These treatments are also kind of oily/sticky feeling. Propecia may help regrow hair if you want to wait a while, but can cause impotency. I know all of this because my ex-partner battled the problem for years.

Truth is Michael, you are a handsome man. And from reading your journal you are also kind, sensitive, intelligent with humor. Hair loss isn't going to change any of that.

Just for fun....   Michael with receding hairline

Of course, if you every get to this point, you'll be many years older, either way you're going to be a good looking older man. WOOF!

Ha! I will look like my grandfather (It's true!)

Thanks for your advice. I think I'll get over it, but I'm just being a little vain right now. I guess I was hoping that the genes from my father's side of the family would kick in and stop that!

Gosh - what a surprize! I promise not to do a comb-over.
