I did a look at my finances for the rest of the month. I'll be scraping by, barely. This does not include Christmas presents, and since I'm usually generous, this depresses me greatly. I'm really having to cut back on what I wanted to do. Looks like Christmas cards, and perhaps a few burned CDs are all I'm going to be able to do this year. Damn.

This means there needs to be a decision about Fiesta. I haven't seen an airfare less than $300. I can charge it, but thats so not a good idea at this time. If I can find a fare under $200, I'm going, if not, I stay home. So many cool people will be there...

I was doing fine when I didn't have a social life, but then 2003 comes along...

Perhaps the decision to take a more expensive apartment wasn't such a good one, either.

Those are fine gifts...it's the thought that counts anyway. BTW...really like your taste in music. BNL, Cake...all favorites.

And I like the new user pic (is that shallow?)!

Some favorites could be arranged.

Shallow? Pshaw! A good pic is a good pic. =)

Apartment: You made an upgrade. Enjoy it. It's for yourself.

Christmas: It sucks all around. I'm sort of in the same boat. This month my work closes for a week between Christmas and New Years' where I don't get paid. So not only is it Christmas time, but I'm a paycheck short. So my family isn't getting much. And for Christmas Cards we're actually making our own.

Fiesta de los osos: Honestly, I'm sort of the same way about Bear Pride. Two years ago, I couldn't afford to go. Last year, we squeezed by and saved every dime we could... and really didn't enjoy it. The stress of watching our money so carefully meant we didn't enjoy ourselves. So this year, we really aren't interested in going... So if you do get a cheap airfare, be careful not to stress yourself too much. That's worse than just not going this year and going again next year.

Good luck!

I'm sure this crossed your mind...

Suggestion: look around for fares to PHX (Phoenix's Sky Harbor Airport) instead of Tucson. It's likely cheaper to fly into a bigger airport and commute to Tucson from there instead of going directly. Someone could pick you up and take you back for your flight back.

Don't know who might pick you up, should it work out like this. Maybe an LJer with his own car. And some elk jerky still dripping from his undercarriage...

I wish you the best of luck :-)

My vehicle crapped out on me two weeks ago and basically ruined whatever chance I had for a holiday. I wanted to get my friends something for Christmas - the first real opportunity I've had in forever - but alas I'll have to be choosy and I don't want to.

Just hope they don't hold it against me if I ask for a birthday present. Hmmm ...

Sorry to hear about your car. I totally understand the unexpected. Unfortunately, my spending was a bit more than it should have been, so for me, it's self-inflicted.

Good luck on getting your vehicle fixed.

Danke ...

Thanks ... It's a simple fix, but the labor's NOT.
I think I might as well get my hands and my tools dirty before the year's out. *sigh*
