Dec. 7th, 2002 11:49 pmA Special welcome to
buddachewie,
baraksf,
pornocub,
redcub, and
atl10sbum. Nice to have you here! Sorry to welcome you under such circumstances as what follows...
That being said, I'm feeling sick. I've really been trying to moderate my food intake lately, and it seems to be working, but uhg, the Theater Popcorn (TM) with Faux Butter Flavoring, doesn't seem to have agreed with me.
After a morning workout, I went with John Bland and his wife, Dawn, to see a matinee showing of Harry Potter. The movie was good (makes me want to be a wizard), and the acting and storyline were better than the first. I love Robbie Coltraine (Haggrid) and wish that Kenneth Branaugh had his beard.
The movie will be forever marred by the incredible, talkative 3 year old that was in the row behind us. He was with his parents, mom, who had to answer his frequent questions, and dad, who got no less than 5 cell phone calls in the movie. None of these people had the attention span to sit through a 2 and a half hour movie. Other kids in the theater were well behaved. My words for you -STAY HOME. It will be out on video.
As it was John's 29th birthday, he and Dawn gave the kids to Crystal and Amy, the lesbian couple they know. They have a boy too. This is actually the most that I've seen John in a while. We were talking about jobs, and he says "Oh, they moved you to a management position?" Dawn snaps at him, "That was a year and a half ago. Where were you?" I love Dawn.
We went over to Bennegan's and I had a Monte Cristo. I hadn't had one in about a year, and I'm thinking that was a mistake as well. It was so much more food than I have had at one meal in several weeks. I left feeling full - too full.
I came home and fell asleep on the couch - watching Trading Spaces. I woke up, and I still don't feel good. I'm going to veg and watch Lord of the Rings on DVD. Hopefully tomorrow will be better.

Date: 2002-12-07 11:01 pm (UTC)I actually turned around and shushed him only to have his father (presumeably) get all upset that it was a public theater.
Also our local movie theater upped its prices. $7.00 for a matinee, $9.00 for an evening movie. Ugh. I can buy the damn thing in six months for $15. :P
But hope you get to feeling better... I've been chomping on too much popcorn of late. "We REAL butter*" (*By REAL we mean REAL fake.)

Date: 2002-12-08 10:19 am (UTC)Funny, a friend at work commented that it would be better to see Harry Potter at a late showing (9 or later) and I'm starting to agree!
By the way, a medium AMC popcorn is too much for one person. Share or go with the small.
