Today we're shooting the video for my work group. I've worked with committee of other supervisors in the retirement area to come up with scripts and such.

I'm actually producing the video for five different departments. The purpose is to show our workgroups to the office we conquered engulfed integrated in Denver. They are making a video for us here.

Now I know just enough about shooting video to be dangerous. I took RTV classes in college, and if I had gotten an internship, I might be working in that field today. I think I bother our Audio/Visual guys because I almost know what I'm doing, and the company knows it. This is my 5th video production for the division.

And yes, I cast myself in something every time. I've been a roundtable discussion leader, a dancer, a reporter, a coworker, and the voice of a superhero (played by an action figure - the smallish superhero, Captain Intranet).

So today we're shooting two things, first is an Army of One. the difference between our department and retirement in Denver is that we are separated into workgroups that focus on one thing. They however have a small team that does everything. We have 70 people (as compared to our 150 at the beginning of 2002) and they have 5. They are in for a shock.

Army of One is a blended shot of an associate coming into work, from the garage, through the Habitrail across Richmond Ave, into the building, to the elevator, on the floor, getting coffee and then sitting at the desk. six people, one from each department will make one associate going to the desk. Just a nice way to introduce the groups.

The other one, where I have a role, is CSI:Houston. I'll be playing a detective who's trying to get to the bottom of how the work has disappeared. It's silly, and we already have a scene ready where my beard will be covered with powdered donut sugar, but again the idea is to show off the different groups. the CSI team solves the mystery by finding that the groups are efficient. It's bull, but it sold well to upper management.

So I'm taking my briefcase, my laptop, the leather jacket and all to try to develop my character. I'm the only former acting student in the bunch, so I'm probably preparing too much for this. That's just the way it is. (This doesn't mean I'll be calling myself an actor, though.)

Of course I'll look silly walking into the building with a leather jacket when it's 95 degrees today

This does energize me. I enjoy doing something creative, and we are playing for an award here...the best department video wins a day off, so I have something to work on here.

Now I just have to look convincing dusting for fingerprints.
