Well, the toll at work is increasing. On my team, Sandra announced her resignation yesterday. She's a good worker, and always good on the phones, helping customers. She's found a job elsewhere, and she said that many people have asked where they can send their resume's (me included).

It's not me. My team still has a good opinion of me, and I've been seen as a fighter and a realist against what upper management is requiring of all of the representatives. 60 hours a week, the mandatory Saturdays, upper management's opinion that their lucky to have jobs, it all takes their toll. despite the new systems, productivity is down. people aren't going to give you their best effort, if the feel it will go unrewarded. I gave out Baskin-Robbins gift certificates to my team yesterday to reward them for their great phone performance during this time. That's $32 out of my pocket, but I'm thinking it will go a lot farther than just the thought of getting overtime.

Geez, I wish I got overtime. I'd be raking it in.

Still, I got on a new project. I'm having to give an overview presentation on the new retirement web system. Yep, the job replacer thing. Despite the subject matter (of which I'm now the expert), I will still enjoy getting up in front of an audience and "perform". The rush of adrenaline is cool, that little bit of nervous energy that gets you going. When I was a trainer about two years ago, I enjoyed getting up there and turning it on.

Have I mentioned how much I hate Powerpoint, though?

I'll have to write about the business meeting videos I've produced over the last couple years. I wish I could do that all the time. But for now, back to the grind.

Thirty-two dollars to make your office a happier, chubbier place; sounds like a good investment. If only my boss were that thoughtful.

I know you don't have Macs where you work, but if you have a chance to try Apple's Keynote, it shames the heck out of PowerPoint. it uses the remarkable graphics that are part of the new OS.

As a side, I've even used OS X's Screen Saver as an emergency show. I just threw a bunch of images in to an image folder and let the screen saver scan, pan, zoom and dissolve on a large rear projection unit. I had all of these techies and media people asking what software I was using.
