Napping

Chris took this picture of me napping the other day. It looks nice, but I'm napping because I don't have my CPAP mask on, like a good bear should.

This is how I look when I'm sleeping:
Sleeping

I'm tired tonight because I've been reading too much Harry Potter and trying to work a 50+ hour workweek. I'm going to bed.

I've said it before... Nick's supposed to be wearing one of those, but he's tried it several times with very little success. The full-face mask agitates the skin on his face so much that he's red the whole next day. The nostril tubes are awkward, and they only work if Nick keeps his mouth closed... which he doesn't. To be honest, I don't know how ANYone manages to never open their mouth in their sleep. I guess the only other option would be surgery, which Nick would NEVER agree to.

It takes some getting used to, but after 6 year, I pretty much can't get along without it. The nasal "pillows" are pretty good, and give me less irritation than the mask did, but it also took a while to get comfortable with. I end up grinding my teeth, so that keeps my mouth closed for much of the time, but I can manage to use it with my mouth open, too.

I'd guess that the solution is the full mask that covers the nose and mouth, despite the redness.

I am not really crazy about surgery either, so I put up with the mask. I think it would take a lot of weightloss to actually be able to drop the mask.

I'd suggest you just gently tell him to keep using it since you want to keep him around.

Thank you! Well, I'm grumpier if I don't use the mask, so we'll chalk it up as a good thing.

I've never tried the nose pillows before. I always wondered what they looked like.

I started off with just the mask that covers the nose, but now I used the full face mask. I wonder how I would do with the nose pillows. Maybe I'll give it a shot.

And of course, adorable as usual. :)

The nose pillows work if you can keep your mouth shut (or atleast stop mouth breathing while asleep). You have to really rely on the air coming up your nose. It's like scuba diving, I hear.

The "pillows" actually stick up your nostils a little bit, so it takes a while getting used to them.
