Changing Underwear
Jun. 13th, 2007 11:05 pmChris' flight back from San Francisco was delayed and hour and a half, so I have to wait until midnight to go pick him up. Thanks American Airlines.
Still, I had plenty of time to watch the start of Top Chef 3, which was good. I like Dale, but I think he's going home really fast. It's not Project Runway, but it certainly is a favorite, and probably the best thing on this summer. I'll say that until the new series of Doctor Who starts up.
I'm at a bit of a fashion crossroads. For the last several years I've been wearing boxer shorts - mostly the heavier cotton boxers from Big Dogs that have the embarrassing sayings embroidered on them. This is all well and good, but I find now that my body must be changing a bit, and these things ride up in ways i don't find goo or amusing. i guess all the workouts on the elliptical machine are starting to pay off with my butt and thighs.
So I'm just not enjoying the boxers anymore, thought they do make great loungewear. I recently bought some boxer-briefs from UnderArmour. they sell some larger sizes on their website, and they feel great - a little snug, but it's great for my workouts. Working out in the boxers, well, that was just stupid.
So the UnderArmour boxer-breifs are good with all of that sleek feeling that makes me feel a little sexy even, but the underwear is a little expensive. Yeah, the Big Dogs boxers weren't that cheap either, but they have lasted a long time and they are often on sale. Buying off UnderArmour's website means no sales and a shipping charge. I need something cheaper for more of an everyday kind of thing.
Here's the question, who makes good boxer-breifs that I can easily get in a 2X (or maybe 3X, depending on fit)? I looked at the JCPenny website and didn't like anything they had. I have a couple of pairs of old Hanes Boxer-breifs when Target used to carry my size, many years ago. their fine, but I can't even find them on the Hanes website.
Let's face it, I loathe shopping at Casual Male. Dillards has no-name underwear, and little of it in stock, and even worse, seems to have stopped having sales on their Big and Tall clothing all together. Does someone have a supplier I don't know about?
Last question, does anyone know where I can get square-cut swim trunks? Am I just too big to show off like that? Maybe so, but I'd at least like to try it if I can find it. Come on guys, where do you go shop for this stuff!?

Date: 2007-06-15 04:09 am (UTC)Well, Casual Male tends to have two things, Brand Name merchandise for high prices, or no-name stuff that has absolutley no style - like Hawaian shirts. why are hawaiian shirts pushed off on fat people, anyway? I'll chck them out, but I don't think they will have the skimpy little square cut ones i'm looking for.

Date: 2007-06-15 04:32 am (UTC)JC Penney about a year ago had XXL undershirts and briefs/boxer briefs. I don't know if they still have them. I buy Jockey underwear, either briefs or boxer briefs. Unfortunately, the closest Jockey outlet is in Hillsboro.

Date: 2007-06-15 04:13 am (UTC)Under Armour gear is hot. I love seeing one of the shirts that's clingy across a guy's chest.

Date: 2007-06-15 04:17 am (UTC)I think there's an outlet store in Ft. Worth. I just didn't know if they carried the big boys sizes.

Date: 2007-06-14 04:41 am (UTC)As for square cut - I am not sure. It is tough to find any big sizes in speedos or anything of that kind.

Date: 2007-06-15 04:23 am (UTC)I've never worn FTL - I always thought it was the cheapest stuff (though that may be BVD).
I know I'm asking a lot on the square cuts. They just don't make stuff like that for big boys. Speedo advertises a 2X as their largest size, but it's listed as a 40-42. That's not even close!

Date: 2007-06-14 08:11 am (UTC)As for swim trunks, I bought a nice pair at Casual Male this spring before TBRU but I haven't had the chance to use them yet, so if anyone wants to invite me to a pool party, go ahead. :)

Date: 2007-06-15 04:28 am (UTC)Well, KMart left Texas a few years back, so that isn't so much of an option. My Big Dogs boxers are also that jersey/T-shirt material that's great except when it's really hot. Never been a fan of the silk/satin boxers.
Yeah...Casual Male usually leaves me thinking that the good stuff is overpriced and the cheap stuff is very out of style, so I don't usually go there. Dillard's, a department store chain here has some good stuff, but it's also pricey and never goes on sale!
We have a neighborhood pool, so we can't really have a good pool party, but you're welcome to come over.
Trunks
Date: 2007-06-14 12:27 pm (UTC)miss yea! ok now on to the show! :) LOL
I usually get boxer brief's from Sam's club or Costco, I find they carry larger sizes and usually at a discount to the name brand stores. I can usually find CK or Jockey there in the style I like. It can be hit or miss, but keep trying back, Costco is my fav.
As for square cut shorts, me loves them! And if you want to wear them wear them. I find them HOT HOT HOT! I usually get mine at http://www.maleuwear.com/ here in Houston. He does not alway stock my size of "XL" or XXL but he will order them for me if he doesnot stock it. I have also found that you really have to look through a lot of them to find cute ones. Most of the time they have what I like to call "Porn pocket" in the front. Cuz lord knows not all of us have a 14 1/2 inch peckers! So finding ones that dont' have that pocket is what I perfer. I have found some in N.O. in a little shop across from The Pub.
Hope I helped out some! :) BIG HUGS HONEY!
Re: Trunks
Date: 2007-06-15 04:35 am (UTC)I like the look of the square cut, and I think I might be bold enough to wear a pair at the pool on the cruise, if I'm not freezing my ass off in Alaska (come with us!). I'll have to check out the houston store online and see if there's anything he might be able to get...but if you might wear a 2X in it, I'm thinking it's a small 2X. I'm kind of thinking they don't carry a lot of 3X or 4X.
I'm not sure I could work the porn pocket, though. I'd like a bulge, but I don't want to wear a cockring just to try to fill the thing up.

Date: 2007-06-15 04:39 am (UTC)It's been years since I wore breifs. I grew out of them and switched to boxers.
