The Scissor Sisters played Dallas tonight and it was one of the most energy-filled concerts I've ever been to. The crowd was mixed, some really into it and dancing, others hanging back. The venue was crowded, but not packed. Ana Matronic said it was the most people they have played for outside of New York City...I'll take it with a grain of salt, but that's what she said.

I thoroughly enjoyed the show. Jake and Ana are very theatrical, while the working heart of the band lies low. Still, I was amazed by the guitar solos - something you rarely hear in rock today - maybe because the emo-kids don't really know how to play. They played all of the hits, and a few other songs - and I knew them all. Let's hear it for the extended version of Filthy/Gorgeous!

I love their music, not that it's anything new, but it's just a good smash up of styles from the sixties, seventies and eighties along with an ironic twist that comes from the band's personalities. You can easily see where the B-52's, Elton John, David Bowie and the New York Dolls all play a part in their music with a little disco thrown in.

We saw some people we knew, but never did find John, Brendan, Mike and David. Sad because I really wanted to see John's fabulous outfit. Still, fewer drag queens and club kids than was expected. Lot's of bears. Lot's of dancing.

Loved the opening act, Wigs on Sticks.

In a recent interview, BabyDaddy said, and I quote, that the band did not give two shits about America because the can't move any albums here. They have sold millions in Europe but only 160,000 in the States. So, they just do short tours in the markets where they know they will sell and don't explore other U.S. cities.

Well, when in Dallas you only sell 2,000 tickets, that's not a big crowd. I'm not sure how they decided on where to play, but when you're trying to pare down your stadium tour of Europe and Austrailia for a few folks in American cities, there probably isn't much interest in hitting the smaller cities.

Las Vegas is strange because the population is transient. Sure, the city is growing with more permanent residents, but I'm sure most artists try to consider the travelling audience and if they would come to a tour concert vs. all of the rest of the regular shows on the strip. This is why LV doesn't have a majopr sports franchise. Who would by season tickets?
