I dropped Chris off at DFW this morning for his flight to Los Angeles. We had breakfast at Whataburger, and something there made me kind of sick . Still, I think some of it was psychosomatic.

This afternoon I got a call from Chris saying that he arrived well, and had made it to the ship, gaining a ride from some cute bears. It sounds like he's going to have a great time. I, of course, am jealous.

Still, it's his just rights, he couldn't go with me to Boston, and he needs to burn vacation days, so he made his choice of them. A boat full of gays, several hundred of them bears. For as much as I'm saying I don't like the idea of a cruise, the more he got excited, I got interested.

So I'm here, in the house, alone. Even though I've lived here for 10 months, and visiting for longer, there's still the feeling that this is Chris' house. I live in Chris' house, with Chris' dog, Joey. It's not that Chris is not happy to share his house, or not happy to have me live here, but with him being gone, it feels very strange.

Yep, I'm already missing him.

Still, as I was driving back home I saw a sign of hope. It said, "McRib is back at McDonalds."

lol @ McRib.

But the other part, that His House etc.. I had that for over a Year when I first moved into Paco's condo. Even after I set up my own room (My office) and got all moved in, for the longest time I felt like I was staying at His House.
I've gotten over it, we're looking 5 years in the face now, but it's only been recently that it has truly felt like Our Home. It took a lot longer to feel that than I thought it would...

So yeah, I feel ya.

Yeah, i'm sure things will change. I haven't felt too uncomfortable here, but it is strange. I guess i never really made any place in the house "mine". Still, i was renting before...so i've never really owned my own place.

You just had to bring up the McRib.

This may sound odd, but one can dress up a McRib by making a pot of rice.

Pork barbecue and rice...yeah, that could be good. Still, I like it with a side of hushpuppies.

Have you talked about moving?

Somewhat. It's more up to Chris, as I don't have equity, and my finances aren't that great right now. I think in the short term we'll be here. Long term, we'd more likely move to another city.

Awww... I hope Chris gets back soon!
As for the feeling of being a guest, I don't know what to say except throw out his furniture. While he is gone -- there's no better time!
XD

Seriously though... your personal taste in decorating / furniture will help out, and it's easier than having to find a brand new place. :)

See, Chris already has the place pretty well decorated, and my stuff isn't quite the same (and most of it is in a storage unit back in Houston). Frankly, the couch and our bed are the best peices of furniture I've ever lived with.

i do need to clean before he gets home, though.

Congrats on your home sale.

I'd feel the same way if I ever moved in with anybody (and finally get away from on-campus living). It's just one of those feelings you'll probably get past in due time.

The McRib's back? *drool* The nearest McDonald's is across the wrong street from campus (and by wrong street, I mean one with no crosswalks and too much dangerous traffic).

I've never been on a cruise. Are they as good as everybody says they are?

I don't know anything about cruises, I've never been, but I'd rather visit a city than a costal resort any day.

Quite true. If it's a nice city, it beats the heck out of seeing the same thing on a cruise ship.

I read this earlier... and just had to grab a couple of McRibs for lunch. You're evil.

I don't think one ever feels like it's "our" place when you move in with someone. The only sure cure is to move to a new place that each of you can call "yours."

It may be a while. I need to get my finances back into shape before I can commit to something like that. Also, I want a pool. I know that Chris would make me clean it because i wanted it, instead of letting me have the hunky poolboy that I also want.

sigh. I've always wanted a pool. I'm not sure about the hunky poolboy; I want a bear housekeeper who also takes care of the pool.
