My back...drumroll please...still hurts. What a surprise. This usually lasts a few days. I've been taking it relatively easy, no big hanky panky, no major romps through the sheets or anything (damn).
the biggest problem arises from rising, getting up out of bed from sleeping is the biggest problem. Moving around during the day hurts occasionally, but not like moving from horizontal to vertical for the first time in the morning, and let me tell you, that battle between my back and my bladder is the most unpleasant thing.
Oh, and 12 hour ALEVE, that crap doesn't work. I'm going back to aspirin.
Otherwise, I've allowed iTunes to play the Christmas tunes again but checking the 300 or so songs I have. I love christmas music...just at the right time, and in the right does, and iTunes is getting close to over doing it, since it seems to be really happy about being able to play these songs again. It likes the new Barenaked Ladies Barenaked for the Holidays CD.
Last night after getting a new tire to replace the the one that has had the slow leak for the last 6 months, I grabbed Kip (
scarabbear) and we went out to dinner and over to Starbucks for a peppermint mocha - mmm. I love Starbucks for the holidays. This of course is the Starbucks on West Gray that if you don't like it you can run across the street to the other Starbucks.
After chatting for a while about Christmas music -see the trend - we made our way over to the Ripcord. things started slowly, but picked up over the evening, as the Ruggers from the Roughnecks got there, and the bears did too. I knew a couple of people, and Kip introduced me to a few others. I remarked to Kip that when i finally feel at home at the Ripcord will be the day that I get the call with the job offer from Dallas.
Given that Friday I went over to the Ripcord expecting that the Big Men's club was going to grill burgers at 7, not 9 and did a pretty casual walk in, and walk out without much of a cringe, I'd say that that call should be coming pretty soon. I guess I just need to meet a few more people.
So in identifying a few people there, we talked to Marty and Roger (
xylotruck) for a while. Kip knew both of them, and Roger has been on my "friends" list for a while though we've never met. both have been on the Roughnecks, though Marty isn't playing this year. I'll have to admit I was flirting with Marty, and trying not to let the fact that it had now been several hours since I had taken some aspirin get in the way. Watch me grimace, quietly! Maybe I could be a rugger.
All four of us left the bar and went out to the House ofGuys Pies and had a little nosh before heading home. Roger gave me a chance to change seats so I could be next to marty...thanks! I think I was crushing a smidge. maybe it was the cowboy hat. still we left around two and I got Kip home before the monsoon set in.
EDIT: On thie way home i heard more about the Meat Rack, a Houston Sex Club - Bathhouse if you will, that's been under target of a neighborhood association lately. It has been planning to move as it's neighborhood has been gentrifying for the last few years, but houston has no zoning laws. Midtown Houston was run down for years and has been host to all sorts of busnesses, but now that there's new townhomes and busniesses, they are getting incereasing pressure from the newcomers to move.
Well, the shit hit the fan when a local news station decided to target the Meat rack since it was sweeps month. They targeted it, and not the asian modling studios, or the staraight clubs because the meat rack has firm plans to move, so they wanted to put up a tease that a G-A-Y S-E-X place could move into YOUR neighborhood, and because of the lack of zoning laws there's nothing in George W.'s America you can do about it! - Tonight on 11 KHOU!
Crap.
So even our local news uses the community for ratings. it's lovely to be the hot button topic.
It's been raining, non-stop. I slept in, getting up arount 11, and just puttered about the house.
I've just been keeping to myself, nice and quiet like.
Shh!
