Chris left a little while ago, traveling back to Dallas. We finished up the game last night, the Astros winning 6-3, and unfortunately Dan Kolb was only warming up in the bullpen, and never made it in the game. Such is the way of baseball. Still, after a client ticked off Chris, they thankfully left him alone for a while and we enjoyed the rest of the evening.
We headed off to the Ripcord, after having dinner at the place Chris and I first met. The trip to the bar was wonderfully trouble free. We met up with Jerry (
goofyfag), who neither Chris or I had seen in a while. Jerry had just come in from the Sarah McLachlan show, unfortunately he didn't really like it. He said all he songs sounded the same. No dispute there.
While we were there, we met a couple of great guys from College Station, and Chris, being the braver one, asked them to come over to the table we were sitting at. They were a couple of students from Texas A&M. It was fun getting to know them, and we felt for them when they had to drive back home at 1:30 am.
Today we ran out to a new BW3 location in town and met up with John and Dawn. Of course, during lunch Chris gets another call. Although Chris handled all his calls quickly and promptly, it's a big problem to handle. I guess i shouldn't ask him to travel on an on-call weekend again. Well, anyway, I'll be back in Dallas next weekend.
A question that kept coming up, from Jerry, from the College Station cubbies, etc, is how do you do it? how do you keep a long-distance relationship going? I'm not sure if it's being asked of us in the realm of, Are you two crazy? or It's amazing you two have lasted through this. I guess we might be getting to the point of being a pretty good example of a long-distance couple.
It was fun to learn that Chris knew all of the words to "Accidentally in Love" from the Shrek 2 soundtrack, as he sung along in the car. I love it when he sings.
A thunderstorm kept Chris from leaving earlier, but still, he had to go - back to Dallas, to Joey and eventually back to work. Houston's not the place for him anyway. Still, I'd rather be elsewhere myself.
