Randy (
lostncove) wrote out a meme the other day that has garnered some interesting responses. I thought I'd fill it out as well.
LOSTNCOVE BOYFRIEND APPLICATION 2.1
Basics
1. Name Michael Edwards
2. LJ name Eggwards
3. Location Houston, Texas
4. Age 36
5. Destination (take this any way you want to) Forward, Upward, Better (and probably Dallas)
6. Family members that are not hostile towards you. No one's hostile, just some don't know everything, yet.
Phase I
7. Dog-Person, Cat-person, or something else? Dog person. I'm allergic to cats, otherwise, no problems.
8. How often do you touch water? Such a covish question. I shower everyday (a positive) take a bath periodically, and i love to swim. Prefer swimming pools to lakes and beaches for actual swimming.
9. What's in your CD player right now? John Mayer - Heavier Things
10. What's the last book you read? This Ain't Brain Surgery by Larry Dierker (It's a baseball book by the former Houston Astros manager)
11. What's a movie you recommend to others? Currently, Down With Love - a wonderful skewering of old Doris Day movies.
12. Is there a movie, play, book or song that changed your life? Which? Well, Said and Meant was the first play I could ever seriously discuss with it's playwright. It made me think about being creative again. I tend to be touched by songs for particular moments in time, but not necessarily life-changing. Many movies have made me cry.
13. What's a perfect breakfast? French Toast, Bacon, Biscuits with Sausage Gravy. mmm.
14. Where's a perfect place to have it? (I mean geographically, not "in bed") How about an isolated home on a forest lake. (Is it bad that I was thinking "it" was sex, not breakfast? Same answer anyway.)
15. What do you do for a living? Babysit data entry/customer service workers for a financial services company.
16. If you ran the world, what would you be doing? Delegating. It's the only job CEOs do.
Phase II
17. If you are in a relationship, what do you call your significant other? (partner, husband, etc) Chris. Boyfriend. I'm kind of in-between "sweetie" and "honey" right now.
18. What makes you happy? Cuddling, Exploring new places, being with friends, comfort foods.
19. What ticks you off? Bad drivers. People who don't think for themselves. Irresponsibility.
20. What freaks you out? Vegetables. Gay Bars.
21. What fear have you conquered in the past? Coming out. Diet soda.
22. What's your living situation? Sleeping single in a double bed.
22a. Monogamy or open relationship or...what? Are you flexible on this? Open for now. I could see it changing to a more closed relationship if we lived together. Possibly polyamorous - there's a lot to be thought about here. It would take some serious discussion.
23. Describe your idea of a romantic evening. Dressing for dinner, perhaps a movie or a show, dancing, and then cuddling up (and where ever that takes us).
24. How out are you? How does that play into your life? I'm out to my friends, co-workers, sister and father. Mom hasn't been told. I'm not close enough to the rest of the family (aunts, uncles, cousins) to make an issue of it. The situation with Mom and Dad still gives me some concern.
25. How does the 'bear' thing hit you? Like the guys, hate the drama that seems to go with it. Still, it's a community with guys I'm comfortable with and attracted too. Some of them even like me!
Phase III
26. Where do you see yourself in ten years? Not in Houston, and not working for this company. I hope to get into a more creative field, either writing or perhaps managing producing something.
27. How are you with forgiveness? I easily forgive others, I have a harder time forgiving myself.
28. On a one (terrible) to ten (perfect) scale, rate yourself as a communicator. About a 7. It would be higher if I knew what to do with it.
29. What side do you tend to err on: honesty or compassion? Honesty (it's such a lonely word)
30. In a short paragraph, describe your beliefs on life and the universe. I believe that there is something or somethings that are keeping the basics in check (gravity, light, dark). It/they seem to have some plan, since there is so much beauty to behold in this world, it can't be all by accident. How much they interfere with our personal matters, including love seems to be vague, as not all prayers are answered.
31. How do the arts affect you? Have you ever made any sacrifices for your creative impluses? I love the arts, but in a somewhat more lowbrow way (i like schlock television and comedies). I like art that connects with regular people (probably why I'm not an opera fan, but i like Gilbert and Sullivan). Sacrifices? Yep, do I look like an actor or writer right now? I gave up on that a while back.
32. How do you treat waitstaff in restaurants? I'm usually much more forgiving than my friends to poor waitstaff. I generally tip 15 to 20, it just takes a few minutes to calculate in my math-addled mind.
33. How do you tend to deal with conflict? I often turn tail and run or just take it. I tend to hold my frustrations and then let it out in a really big fit when it boils over. it's immature.
33a. You have one hundred dollars to give to a charity. Which is it? Probably to my fraternity (they aren't rich, and neither am I) I haven't done my research into GLBT charities.
Phase IV: All about me
34. What attracts you to ME, of all people?? Creativity, theater, fun to be around, love of Pizza, huggable, bushy red beard!
35. What makes you think you and I would have chemistry? We both have an interest in writing, theater and food, also some music preferences that work.
36. I'm a Christian, even though many modern churches would have issues with parts of my belief system. How does that make you feel? Not a problem, as long as you can handle my questioning things.
37. What naughty fantasy turns you on? I think it might involve a locker room, some wrestling singlets, jock straps and possibly pudding.
38. It's my birthday. Whatcha doing for me? Remember the romantic evening part...that sounded good.
Phase V
39. What foible of mine (that you perceive) is going to be hard for you to live with? Your car's passenger seat is very small and cramped.
40. What foible of YOURS will be hard for me to adapt to? My inability to make quick decisions - like for dinner, I guess. I like sports too, you would have to be dragged to a baseball game occasionally.
41. Are we settling down, or are we constantly reinventing ourselves, or something in between? I think it would have to be inbetween, there needs to be a foundation, but still new things to keep it interesting.
42. Are you high maintenence or low maintenence? I'm mid-maintenence, because sometimes I'm an attention whore.
43. Can you accept physical affection in public? WHen you are down? When you're mad at me? Yes, kiss me you fool!
44. Where's your passion? What brings you the greatest joy? My passion is making people happy/entertained/or informed. I love teaching/mentoring. - and hopefully I'll be able to do more of this in the future I personally like simple quiet evenings in front of the TV and I like to go out dancing!
45. Anything else I should consider? I have TiVo! and cable broadband!
