Rainy, Murky day in Houston. I didn't realize that the Houston Area Bear's Picnic started at 10:30, so i missed it. I've been packing stuff, getting ready for next week's move. i just threw away a whole bunch of stuff. Who knew that in a year you could accumulate so much crap.

Question of the Day: What are physical Phone Books good for anyway? I'll admit that it benefits the place of business is you use the yellow pages, because you might just "accidentally" find something that you wouldn't find in an online search. Still, I haven't used the actual books since I got them, and they are taking up space. Out they go.

Speaking of that, if they ever invented a no-loss music format for the computer, I think these CD's would go to. I've got something like 275 or so and they fill up boxes fast, and they are heavy, to boot.

Otherwise, I'm looking at a rapidly decreasing checking account. Well, it's been doing that all year. As Chris put it, "It's expensive having a social life". I don't know if I'd totally say it's a social life, but my activities and having a long-distance relationship, has put some taxing on the account. the money I built up over the last couple of years has vanished. The rest of this year is going to be much tighter.

Of course being low on funds doesn't keep me from shopping, which is bad. I went to Expo, the high-end Home Depot home store, because I heard they had some outdoor chairs on clearance. The new place has a really great balcony that, kenny, if you're reading this, looks over Fogo de Chao (and other things) It's so much nicer than the old place, so I want a couple of cheap chairs.

Unfortunately I missed the clearance at Target. So I looked at Expo, and the cheapest clearance chair was $40. There's no way I can swing that, so I won't. But I looked around for a while, seeing all of the very nice, very expensive things they have for your home, primarily focused on those remodeling. I keep wondering to myself, what am i doing wrong? Why don't I have the money to afford this stuff? Apparently these people do (the store was crowded). I can't even afford the down payment on a house!

There's nothing like nice stuff to make you feel like a failure.

Really, I don't need anything I have what it takes to get by, but I do have a materialistic streak. I've been wanting a Tivo all summer long. I'm liable to just buy it and wrack up debt. I don't have to have Tivo, and i don't want to get to far in debt. I had to work out of my college debt, earning a lot less than i do now, and I really don't want to ever get another phone call from a creditor again. Staying out of debt keeps me out of trouble.

It's just a lovely time to be low on cash when you're changing apartments. if I hadn't already bought the plane ticket, I'd think twice about taking the trip to Wisconsin I have coming up. It's all trouble, isn't it. Always wanting to travel, to get more stuff, if you're going to dream, dream big.

Oh, I know others are out of work, or they don't have steady income, trust me, i know i don't have it that bad, it's not a woe is me thing, I'm just ruminating.

Well, off to see the UH Cougars play the Miss. St. Bulldogs. I don't really root for the Coogs so much anymore, despite them being my alma mater. The school and it's athletic department are so screwed up...but whatever, just going to see some old friends. Hopefully the rain won't be too bad.
