eggwards: (bearded Mike)
Well, here I am, midday at the house in Running Rats Acres. Two bands of thunderstorms have rolled through. One lightning strike knocked out my DSL for a while.

So why am I here? I was sick. This is the first sick day I've taken in 4 years. Though it sounds like this could be a part of Nick's little writing assignment (write about playing hookie), it's not. I never take sick days (much to my team's chagrin).

And I'm not going to take this full day either. There's too much to do. I need to have two reviews ready for tomorrow morning, and another three by Friday. I owe Gina a re-write to out loan application and I have to start the new video project. Yep, I drive my self, and drive hard. Perhaps this is why I hadn't had a decent personal life in so long, I'm to tired after work to deal with it.

So what happened? What made the invincible Icon actually concede that he needed to stay home for a while? My stomach was bothering me this morning, but I thought I had taken care of it, so I drove to work. I got into the parking lot and realized it wasn't over. Nope, not by a long shot. As I move toward the closest bathroom, I became all to aware that I wasn't going to make it...and that made me a bit unpresentable for work, I'm afraid. I cleaned up as much as I could and sprinted back to the car, trying my best to leave the interior unblemished, and my dignity unscathed.

I called Gina and said I needed to clean up, and I might be in midday (which midday for me is right about now). I drove back home and took my second shower, still unable to keep anything else down.

I blame last night's popcorn. Really, popcorn.

I took a nap, still had a few stomach problems that have now faded, and eaten lunch, which seems to be staying put for now, and watched some episodes of Buffy. Relaxing except for the thunder.

Now though, I have to go. You'll all think I'm an idiot, but I really do have to work, and I will try to send some of it home so I can do it here, instead. Looks like I'll have to make a last minute decision about attending the Houston Area Bears meeting. Damn, I was looking forward to that.

Damn, here comes another thunderstorm.
