1. You've recently experienced your first full-on homo date. Describe to me your fantasy homo date.
I'm laughing about the words "full-on homo date". Sounds dirty, doesn't it? I guess I'm relating full-on to full frontal. Tonight on Bears Gone Wild! Full-On Homo Dating!
Ahh, but I'm avoiding the question. Tough question. I guess it's not too far from straight dating, I want dinner - and folks, fancy restaurants are usually a waste for me, you can take me to any burger joint and I am mucho happy. I'm pretty simplistic. Over dinner, talk to me, trivia, news of the day, whatever. Afterwards, let's go out dancing. Sure, I will be self-conscious about my size (weight) and my white-boy moves, but if I'm with the right person, I'll dance and I love it. If the music's right, I'll really enjoy it. I wish there were better places to dance here. Lastly, let's head home yours or mine, and watch a movie and curl up on the couch. Nothing more has to happen. Sex doesn't have to be a part of it.
I can tell you that at dinner, I will probably get a good idea if I want to go further with the date. See how important first impressions can be?
2. You were raised a small town boy but became big city man. Where do you see yourself when the time comes to settle down and enjoy your golden years?
Small town boy (someone bring in Bronsky Beat) may be a misnomer. I think more "suburban boy".
My dream is to have a residence in the big city, and a lake house. I'd love to live in a high-rise apartment. Be close to everything and be in the heart of it, but when I want to get away, be able to drive out to some lake and sit on the back porch and relax. I don't want a beach house. Never been impressed with the ocean - probably after seeing Galveston too many times, I have a bad impression. I love the water, and both homes would need to have a pool (call me a snob, I just like to know the water is somewhat clean). I love water, it's very calming. And the lake house should have trees and a great view of the sky, because I love watching the sky and daydreaming.
3. You're somewhat concerned about how people view you. What is the one thing you would like to be known for when brought up in casual conversation?
I worry about perception, but I'm not at all sure what I want to be known for. Fun, interesting. I guess those come to mind. I hope that they would want to know more about me, that they would feel that I would make a good friend, and someone that they would want to be with.
I get worried that they'll think I'm nerdy, or I'm stupid, or not worth getting to know. I guess it comes from not wanting to be lonely, and not wanting to be the outsider. Why does one join a fraternity? Think about it.
4. What is the importance of family to you?
Biological: It's relationships that I've known all my life. It's support. Not always exactly what you need. but support none the less. I'm not a person with a great tragedy in my past, but my family is small, so losing those relationships really bother me. When my grandmothers died, seemingly one after the other, it really sent a shock through me. I guess you expect family to be there, always. This is why coming out to my dad, and the possibility of severing that relationship, scared me. My relationship with my sister has only gotten better in the last few years, I really admire her.
Friends: I've had a couple of other families, in high school, it was the Drama Club, in college the band and fraternity. Strangely, I have found these to be fleeting. I got what I needed out of them, friendship, support, acceptance. Now that The fraternity family is moving on, I'm finding that I'm turning to a new family in the community, here on LJ, the Bears, etc. I'm going to look for friendship, growth and something I may not have allowed myself in previous families, love. it's a new family, so I don't know quite how it will shake out in the next few years, but I'm excited.
5. You're driving down a long stretch of secluded desert highway. What song is blasting from your '76 Chevy convertible and what is its significance?
Music changes, and my tastes stay rooted, but I like to change up what I listen too. in a year, this answer will be different, and the year after that, etc. Despite that preface, the song would be "Roam" by the B-52's. Anytime I come upon that song it just energizes me. It's a great traveling song, always encouraging. "Roam if you want to without anything but the love we feel" What a cool message. now if I had that someone to love...
Whew, these questions are getting tough!
