Positive numbers, Negative integers
Apr. 25th, 2003 09:19 amI had my quarterly review yesterday. I was expecting my scores to fall. I took a negative stance on our data conversion, I sat back and did practically nothing for two weeks, and I didn't play along with the mandatory Saturday thing - like I'm not doing this weekend, thank you.
I got my highest score ever.
I don't understand it because I think I'm being rewarded for negative behavior. Yes, I did get the documentation up for our new web product, and gave several presentations about it, points for me, but I ended up not being a good leader for my team. Strange.
Of course, this is the corporate culture that has meetings just to meet. Dilbert rings true, because it is true. The business language, the backward moving policies, the undocumented procedures, the lack of competent leadership. All true.
I'm baffled. I'm also getting a bonus, for doing such a good job. Amazing.
I promise to do worse in the future.
