I just have to point out that the ban on smoking in bars and restaurants here has been awesome. You can go and enjoy yourself without coming out like tobacco smoked meat. And for the smokers it encourages a lot of bars to open patios. Which is win-win for everyone really.
Most resturants here are segregated into smoking/non smoking sections, or the smaller ones, like fast food places, are non smoking already, so there won't be a big change there. I guess there may be a few more people eating on the patio during the warm months of the year. Our city council declined to extend the ban to bars, so for many larger resturants, that will become the smoking section, and for other places, no change. They didn't have the guts to challenge the potential loss of convention business since they have a big investment in the publicly paid for convention center and hotel.
Those guys at the Onion never fail to crack me up. I could see the Lee press-ons. Of course I always thing about Gregg there in dallas when I hear about them now.
