eggwards: (Green Xmas)

A little Christmas tale for you all.

T'was the night before Christmas,
when all through the condo
Not a creature was stirring, --not even the Nintendo;
The stockings were hung by the chimney with care,
In hopes that Santa soon would be there.
The puppies were nestled all snug in their beds,
While visions of milk bones danced in their heads;
And me in my boxers, and him in his briefs,
Had just settled down for a little relief,
When out on the lawn there arose such a clatter,
We sprang from the bed to see what was the matter.

Away to the window We flew like a flash,
Tore open the shutters and threw up the sash.
The moon on the breast of the new-fallen snow
Gave the luster of mid-day to objects below,
When, what to my wondering eyes should appear,
But a miniature sleigh, and eight tiny reindeer,

Like a big truck driver, so big and burly,
We knew in a moment Santa was early!
More rapid than jets his coursers they came,
And he whistled, and shouted, and called them by name;
"Now, AFFLECK! now, DAMON! now, MAGUIRE and ASTIN!
On, FARRELL! on OWEN! on, LIOTTA and JACKMAN!
To the top of the porch! to the top of the wall!
Now dash away! dash away! dash away all!"

As dry leaves that before the wild hurricane fly,
When they meet with an obstacle, mount to the sky,
So up to the house-top the coursers they flew,
With the sleigh full of toys, and Santa Claus too.
And then, in a twinkling, I heard on the roof
The prancing and pawing of each little hoof.
As We ran down the stairs and turned around,
Down the chimney Santa came with a bound.
He was dressed all in leather, from his head to his boot,
And his clothes were all polished, my he looked cute;
A bundle of toys he had flung on his back,
And he looked like a bear just looking for a snack.

His eyes -- how they twinkled! his dimples how merry!
His cheeks were like roses, his nose like a cherry!
His droll little mouth was drawn up like a bow,
And the beard of his chin was as white as the snow;
The stump of a stogie he held tight in his teeth,
And the smoke it encircled his head like a wreath;
He had a broad face and a nice round gut,
That shook, when he laughed and twitched his sweet butt.

He was big and gruff, a right hunky old elf,
And we laughed when we saw him, in spite of ourselves;
A glance from his eyes and a nod of his head,
Soon gave us dreams that his clothes he would shed;
He spoke not a word, but went straight to his work,
Our stockings he filled, and turned with a jerk.
Then to our suprize, his hand dropped to his pants,
He gave a wink, and his eyebrows did a little dance;
Leaping from the fireside and crossing the rug,
He grabbed us, growled and gave us a hug.
Santa nuzzled my neck, then gave my partner a kiss,
And a deep voice rumbled “Call me Kris;”
Leaving the embrace he picked up his sack,
then we knew next year he would be back.
He sprang to his sleigh, and to us shouted “WOOF!”,
And away they all flew right off the roof.
Then we heard him exclaim, as he flew out of sight,
"MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, AND TO ALL A GOOD-NIGHT."

Merry Christmas, (or the seasonal greeting of your choice) to you all!
