eggwards | Meet the Folks

After work today, I'm off to Dallas to see the boyfriend for Valentine's day, and I couldn't be happier. Work's been really stressful right now, because the pressure for change is being laid on hard. Apparently upper management has a lot of goals they are trying to get through. Of course, they don't align their goals (there's 6 different managers) so we're having to scramble to try to sort out the mess they are creating.

That isn't the big news here. The big thing is that this weekend I get to meet the parents. Chris' (

oakleycub) folks are in Dallas visiting this weekend. I've never had to meet the folks before, so I'm damn nervous. Still, they love and accept their son, so that gives them some thumbs up from me.

The funny thing is that this is bringing every one of my shortcomings into focus. Am I too Fat? Is my hair right? Will they like me? Should I kiss Chris when I see him? Do I kiss him hard, or soft in front of the folks? do I need to watch what I say?

It's not like they've never met one of Chris' paramours before, and they already know we're dating. I remember when Chris was on the phone with his parents one day, and I heard him mention my name. There was a couple of seconds where I guess the question was, is it a friend or someone..."Romantic", Chris stated. Wow. That impressed me.

My dad knows I'm dating, but given the chance to meet Chris, he declined. I think it's going to be a while before Chris meets mine. I'm sure my sister Laura, who turns 30 this Valentine's Day, would tell me it's not good to have your boyfriend meet our mother, period.

I would think the fact that you are not defrauding hundreds of people out of their retirement funds would give you a couple of plus points with the folks.
