So I got the last of the needed tickets for my upcoming trip today. I have already purchased airline tickets, and got the hotel in Boston and even the train ticket that will take me down to Baltimore (featuring "snack service!"). what i was lacking is the ticket to one of the hallmarks of traveling for me these last few years.

I got a ticket to the baseball game. Actually, not just any game, but to a Red-Sox vs Yankees game. The place was already sold out, even though it's a Monday Day game, but it's the Yankees, so apparently normal rules do not apply. From what I hear, these rivalry games are pretty insane, and this year...well, the teams are neck and neck.

Of course, I had to get the ticket on the secondary market, but the company's concierge service was pretty good in getting a ticket that wasn't as overpriced as those on Stub Hub.

I'll be up in the rafters, but that's good enough, and I'll get to take another stadium off the list. My sister and I may go to a game in Washington or in Philadelphia the next weekend as I've already been to Camden Yards in Baltimore. Still, none of those are on Yawkey Way. So far the oldest stadium I've been to is Wrigley Field in Chicago, so seeing the oldest should be a treat.

Now I need to start contacting LJers in the area to see what they are doing, and where to go in the city. Does anyone have a Project Runway viewing party?

On another note, Chris just worked a three day stint of about 40 hours, many in the middle of the night dismantling and reconstruction his company's server room. He came home pretty late last night, after being away all weekend. His company put him in a hotel for a couple of days. Luckily things seemed to go smoothly today, he said, but I can tell he's tired.

Now if we could get him a vacation as well. Unfortunately, when I'll be on the east coast, he may be making a business trip to New Jersey, but not somewhere were we could meet up, I don't think. We'll have to see.

The nice thing about Fenway is that it's so small, there really are no bad seats in the house. As for Boston - the big touristy things - Quincy Market/Faneuil Hall area, Newbury Street, Boston Common and the Public Garden, The statehouse and Beacon Hill, The North End - are all walkable. Complete with the Freedom Trail that sorta links everything together. Make sure you hit The Black Rose near Quincy Market for some chowda and a Guinness. Where is Chris going to be in Jersey?

Yeah, I liked the fact that about everything and everyone can be reached by the T. I still need to buy my pass, but I'm thinking I can do that when I get there. I still need to figure out how to get from Logan to my hotel.

I'll take your recomendation for a glass of Guinness, too. MMM!

It's still up in the air, Chris hasn't been told for sure, but I think their office is in Verona. Wherever that is! I'm sure he'd want to meet up, if possible. I'll let you know.

I'll be at the Club Quarters Boston. It's a boutique hotel for business travelers that I was able to book through work. Nice but smaller rooms, with a pub downstairs. it's in the financial district, so it's kind of centralized. It's also $100 a night, and I'm not is some Motel 6.

Yeah, I hear about the Ramrod, but I'm hearing more about the Alley as being the big bear bar. Know anything about that?

It's fairly easy to get from the airport to your hotel.

I checked the address of your hotel. Just take the Silver Line from the Airport to South Station, (fare = $1.25), then you will be about a 10 - 15 minute walk from South Station. There are lights to get you across the major roadways, and once you're on Federal Street you take a left onto Franklin Street, go 1 short block on Franklin Street, then right onto Devonshire Street. Also, you are not far at all from the Alley Bar, which is the Bear bar in Boston, (every Saturday night is Bear night!)

After thinking about it overnight I remembered that it would be better to get a shuttle bus to the Airport Blue Line Station, (shuttle buses are free), take the Blue Line to State. State Station is at the end of Devonshire Street, and it would only be a 5 minute walk to your hotel. If you need any more directions on how to use the T, then E-mail me.

Excellent. i was worried that I might have to get a Taxi to get from the Airport. I'm leaving by AMTRAK so all I need to do is get to the south rail station to be able to do that...and I don't think that's too far from the hotel via the T. Hopefully it will all go smoothly.

To get to South Station from your hotel. Follow my first set of directions, backwards. Again, It's a 10-15 minute walk from Devonshire street. Good luck while you're here.

In Boston: The Alley is the bear bar. Also, leather bar is Ramrod.
If at The Alley in Boston, ask if Taterhead is working the door. *sigh* I miss Boston......
In Quincy Market, you have to try Durgin Park - prime rib (aka "The Fred Flinstone Plate") is awesome!
AND - if you get a chance, try to catch Blue Man Group...AWESOME show, in small theatre - very different than their Vegas or touring shows.

I'll have to poke around a bit and find where some of those things are! I'm pretty sure I'm going to check out Sunday kareoke at the Alley, perhaps i'll get over to the Ramrod as well.
