A few days back, I said that I wanted to go on vacation, and now I've taken my first step in doing so. I bought my airline tickets to head to Boston, and then return from Baltimore. Man, does that first flight take off early!

Date:
19AUG - SATURDAY
Flight : AMERICAN AIRLINES 1352
Departure: DALLAS FT WORTH 6:25 AM
Arrival: BOSTON 11:05 AM
SEAT 29F
ECONOMY

Date:
27AUG - SUNDAY
Flight : AMERICAN AIRLINES 1543
Departure: BALTIMORE/WASHINGTON 6:52 PM
Arrival: DALLAS FT WORTH 9:07 PM
SEAT 24A

Now I need to go buy my ticket on Amtrak to go from Boston to Baltimore. i got the idea when I saw that Terry ([livejournal.com profile] bigrock) took the Accella train from boston to New York City. I've never really taken a long train ride, though I did like the one from Baltimore to Washington DC that my sister and I took last year, so I thought it would be a great way to travel.

I still need to get my hotel in Boston, where I'll probably stay for four nights, and I hope to see some LJ'ers while I'm there. I'd like to see a Red Sox game, but I'm not sure I can get (or afford) tickets. I think they are playing the Yankees over that first weekend, and I'm sure that's crazy.

I'll probably couch surf at my sister's place in Baltimore the second weekend, and save some cash. We're already thinking of driving up to Philadelphia, too. It's a crazy Atlantic coast tour!

So, when in Boston, what should I see? Any suggestions?

You'll love the train ride. If you have a lot of luggage, make sure you ask how best to handle it. Amtrack has certain trains that won't allow you to check in bags, so if you can't carry it on with you (there are limitations), you can arrange to check it in a day early and it will meet you at your destination city.

You might check out the listings for Gay B&Bs in Boston ... There's one I stayed in a few years back in the Back Bay not too far from Fenway Park and a couple of the bars. Have a wonderful trip! Be sure to take one of the guided tours around the city ... You can get on and off to explore and it's a fun way to check out Boston.

ps ... You might also introduce yourself to [livejournal.com profile] quietcub and his partner. HUGS!

I usually only carry a large suitcase and a soft breifcase, so it's pretty manageable. I'm looking forward to the ride. It will be my first glimpse of New York City, but I haven't really decided to stop there. This time.

I already have a hotel, thanks to work, so I'll be in the finacial district downtown, but it's a good bargain. I'll have to try one of the B&B's next time. I'll have to check out the tours.

I don't know quietcub. I guess I'll have to seek him out
