Happy belated birthday to Dan ([livejournal.com profile] musicbearmn)!

Well, we're just days away from the trip, and still trying to get everything tacked down. We finally found a hotel for the first part of our stay. In a way I feel like we're trying to do the Amazing Race, not knowing when and where were going. Still, this trip is about all i can think about, and I know that it's getting me very distracted. i'm glad I got most of the critical things off of my plate last week at work, so now I can pack and get ready.

This weekend was kind of interesting. It's no that i did a whole lot, some of it was just getting some things, like laundry, done so I could pack. I'm still trying to decide to pack more jeans or shorts (probably jeans, the weather looks so much cooler there). I also finished the book Wicked, which was good, and now I'm thinking of taking Hans' wife's offer on going with her to see the musical when it comes through Houston. I hear it's very different.

This will allow me to read Harry Potter on the trip. Yes, finally, and yes, I'm packing one more thing into this trip. It's not that bad, really! Why does everyone think it's too much?

I did try to catch up with Tony ([livejournal.com profile] bighoustonbear), and need to try to get with him soon, but it wasn't to be this past weekend. I did get to catch up with Jerry and Shane ([livejournal.com profile] goofycubb and [livejournal.com profile] shanecub35, respectively) and after dinner we ran out to the Ripcord.

Now, I must tell you, I didn't quite think of bringing anything special to wear, while Jerry and Shane, and their friend Hector had chainmail and leather and goodies to look hot for the evening. I looked like the JC Penny reject. I kind of wished I had something special to wear. It also wasn't helping that Hector was hot in his leather harness. I also felt a little silly asking a question about leather that seemed so simple that I wish I hadn't asked it out loud.

Still, off we went to the ripcord and it filled up as the night went on. Our friend Drew from Dallas was in town and I talked to him for a bit. Still, as the evening wore on, my back started troubling me, and people started to talk to each other, and I found myself just standing there. I'll admit, there were several men who were definitely turning me on, more than usual in the crowd for the evening. It was definitely a good night for observing, I just wish I could have been a little more outgoing.

I think if I could have broken out of the shell a bit, I could have totally smacked down on someone. Perhaps if I felt better dressed. You never know. Now if I can manage to talk to the hot guys at Hairrison...

I saw all of my friends in conversation when I decided to make my break for it, so I didn't get into any long goodbyes, just off I went into the night. Perhaps I would have been a good superhero.

Dinner with the parents meant another update from mom about her upcoming surgery, and she's all worried about the anesthesia, since she knew someone who supposedly died of complications from it. I'm not so sure that's true, but I tried to reassure her about it.

I'm looking into photoblogging during my trip, and I mentioned this to my Dad, now he's wanting to read the blog. Hmm, I wonder if I should have mentioned that, or if I should have mentioned that I was hoping I could have been macking on someone last Saturday. Interesting times.
