Mar. 8th, 2005 11:29 pmIt's been a busy couple of days. Today we through a baby shower for one of the guys and his wife. I did my part by purchasing the cake...which when you know you have to feed not only your own team, but several other people on the floor, gets pretty dang expensive. I picked up a nice half-white half-chocolate cake from Kroger that was pretty darn good.
My team had worked on surprising John with the shower, making sure to schedule it on Spring Break for the school his wife teaches at so she could attend. They worked on sneaking her in, getting her and their other daughter cleared with building security and everything. We all managed to keep things under wraps by claiming we were having a food day, but managing to keep him in the dark about the real event. When I took him away for a minute before our team meeting i had to think of some BS questions to ask him while everyone got ready in the conference room.
It was great to see his face turn red when he saw his wife and little girl, and the baby shower decorations. He had known he had been had. All week long he had been complaining about our desire to bring a bunch of snacks to the team meeting this week, wondering why we should do that? We didn't bring snacks any other time! Now he knew he had been had.
Otherwise, last weekend I went up to Dallas and spent a great weekend with Chris. Unfortunately, we never got out to the Gay Rodeo out in Ft. Worth, or the Irish Festival, but we did get to the very crowded Round-up, and the Eagle. We ran into a few people we knew here and there.
Chris is still practicing for softball, so we went out Saturday to practice. We went with Joey, and I walked her around the park, getting her all muddy and dirty. Still, I got to watch the boys practice, and there's some boys who are definitely worth watching. We had bought Chris a glove that morning and he had bought cleats earlier that week. Look out guys my boy's got the leather and the lumber now!
Of course this means obligations...and besides the games, one of the obligations was Uniform Night on Sunday. It sounds so much hotter than it really is. People really just wore the jerseys, not the whole uniform. It was really rather unorganized, even as a get-together, happening at the TMC. The Dallas Diablos Rugby Club was having their bachelor auction the same night at Woody's and it seemed not only better publicized, but better attended. but were fundraisers for their organizations. I guess the softball league, made up of many teams didn't really need many others to raise money, while the ruggers need others to raise money for it's 20-member team. Still, with big bachelors going for $400 and more, they were doing pretty well.
After the Uniform Night got off to less than a bang, chris and I decided to leave during the set of the guy who was talking about what ever guy in the crowd he knew was a bottom. I can't rightfully call him a comedian. So after getting a bite to eat, we went to the action and enjoyed seeing some good people, like the boys from Zeus, before I had to head back home. I left Chris on the strip of the Gayborhood, as he has to get back to Uniform Night, being the jock that he is. Hmm. I'm dating a jock now. Life is good.
Of course, as always, the weekend was way to short. Still, TBRU is just around the corner.
