An interesting day today. Lots of odd little notes dealing with the gay community.

Driving home today I was jamming along to Kylie Minogue's new single - produced by Jake Shears and Babydaddy and not played by any of Houston's radio stations, the Sirius radio purchase is already paying off, and I'm cut off by a large truck. not in a mean way, but he just got in front of me as I'm going home on San Filipe. (say "San Phil-lip-ee")

Now, I have to say I'm pretty sick and tired of the various ribbons on the back of people's autos, but here was a new one. It was blue with white piping, and stated "One Man - One Woman" with a pair of wedding rings. Oh boy.

Sure, I had seen pink ones for breast cancer, and various colors, yellow, camo, and black - MIA, for the troops, but this one was different. Sure, I've been waiting to see if anyone would have a red AIDS one, and I keep waiting, or possibly a sea foam green on for Tsunami relief (too tacky?), but here was a twist. Why blue? Why not white, the color of chastity, purity and surrender. Blue makes me think of blue balls.

So now, some Asian magnet maker is now cashing in on someone's intolerance, or at least their inability to understand they are unharmed by the state granting equal rights to all citizens.

Of course I'm sure that guy was unhappy the President isn't thrilled the President isn't pushing harder for the re-introduced Federal Marriage Amendment, oh, sorry, The Marriage Protection Amendment. Whatever.

Still, there's more fun in Texas.

A church has put up billboards on some of our freeways to announce their ex-gay conference. the conference is based on Focus on the Family's "Love Won Out" program, which if you know, was written by John Paulk, a formerly celebrated ex-gay star who was caught frequenting Washington D.C. gay bars once more.

Apparently Grace Community Church, one of Houston's super-size churches was worried that they couldn't get enough men and women to pay the $50 for registration purely from word of mouth, so they got someone to buy billboard advertisements. Great.

The Kool-aid distribution conference will be on Feb 19th, and unfortunately I will be in Dallas for the Turtle Creek Chorale's 25th Anniversary Concert, so I guess I'll just stay gay that weekend. Oh darn.

Lastly tonight, where was this when I was growing up?

(Hat Tip: GenEX)
Sure, I probably would have been killed if I I had that when I was 18, or at least thrown into an ex-gay ministry, but wow, if threat were real... I was 27 before I found Bear...
