Lights Are Low
Nov. 15th, 2004 09:54 pmYou know, something that I don't get often enough in my life is the little moments of sitting in a darkened theater knowing that your loved one is next to you, and that you can touch legs without having to quickly back off from the touch.
You can share a moment of acknowledgment every once in awhile when he gently touches your knee in the dark, despite that you're surrounded by families from rich, uptight Plano, Texas, just because you can, and he knows you'll appreciate the extra effort, and probably get all giggly, with some silly, childish look on your face, lit by the backwash of light from the feature.
It's the quiet reassurance he gives you when the sap starts flowing, and you get emotional, because movies know exactly how to tug at your heart and the water works start. That little snuggle he gives with his with his shoulder that at once says "stop being such a big baby" and "yeah, I know" all at the same moment.
It's those little things that I miss so.
