Sociable Cracker
Oct. 22nd, 2004 11:48 pmWhew. It's been a long day.
It was a late night, with the Astros' loss and then talking to
bobaloo for hours. Then work seemed to drag on and on today.
Tonight I finally got to go out with Jeff (
jeffdintexas) for a little bit/ He's a local guy that I first met at a Houston Area Bears Meeting, and then ran into every once in a while. He had popped up here on LJ a few weeks ago. I knew that he and Chris had chatted online a few times as well.
The thing is, we have been trying to meet up for the last few weeks and strange things kept happening, broken movie projectors, traffic woes, my traveling here, his traveling there, and of course my occasional desire to be a shut-in.
Tonight I introduced him to BW3's and the wonder of the conversation killer that is NTN Trivia. Still, we both had fun as I took two games, and he as a first-timer came in second on one.. The highest I got nationally was 63rd. I've done better.
Still, we did get an opportunity to talk, and learn a little more about each other. We're both about the same age and all, and have both lived in the area for a long time. Wow, with Jerry last night, and Jeff tonight, I'm quite the social animal! They are both very cute, too!
We dropped in to the BRB (Brazos River Bottom) for a little bit to meet up with some friends of his, a nice lesbian couple and their buddies. We stayed there for about an hour, but it was dead as a doornail. I know, it's absolutely bizarre to think that a country bar in Texas' biggest city would be nearly empty on a Friday night, but there were just a couple of people lazily boot-scootin' across the floor, including this thin older man whose spine was as stiff as his starched Garth Brooks era shirt.
One observation about being gay, and this doesn't just go for tonight. I love the fact that two men can kiss hello and goodbye. you know. I just love to kiss. Mmmmuu-aaah!
