It's Valentines Day and it's Snowing here in Dallas. Apparently it's been coming down for a while now...but it's just sticking to the grass, I guess there's about an inch on the ground. The roadways appear to be fine, in fact, their melting off a bit. I doubt that this will last the day. As of this moment, it's 32 degrees.

Meeting Chris' parents has been fine. They are lovely people and very caring. I think I've fallen in with them pretty well. We had a good dinner out with them last night at Texas Land and Cattle. We had a dwarf waiter, or it's he a little-person waiter. I never can be sure what's right to say. I'm gaining lots of sympathy about my parents, but then again, my parents haven't known I was gay for several years, like Chris' have. Still, it sounds like Chris' family was very open about it from the start. Perhaps it's just from living in the Bay Area, perhaps it's just the kind of people they are.

Chris' parents have a camper. It's one of those pop-up ones like you see as the last prize on the Price is Right showcase, and people just stare wondering how much the Jiffy Pop camper costs. They came in from staying in Tucson, and then in Big Springs, so I think they have been pretty happy to actually sleep in a bed with heat these last couple of nights.

One thing I told Chris last night is that when we first got together, I wasn't too sure about how it was all going to go, so I didn't think very far ahead. Now I can really see a future with Chris, farther than a few months, or a year. I can't say that we'd get married, if that option is allowed by our state in the future, but you never know. All I know is that there's something really special about this man, and I love him.

One thing I found interesting is how Chris' parents have referred to one of his Exes as "son-in-law". I hadn't really thought of things in terms like that. Chris said that after this weekend they might refer to me like that too. I think that would be fine. I'm not so sure that my parents could do the same, we'll just have to see.

I think the snow isn't coming down as hard as it was earlier. I'm probably going to have to go out and play in it soon. I haven't seen snow in about 7-8 years, and this is just amazing to me. I might be able to build a little snow penguin or something. There's still some blades of grass sticking through the snowy covering, and clumps are falling from the trees, especially the live oaks that still have green leaves on them. They can't take the weight of the stuff.

Sadly, I got in too late on Thursday to see John ([livejournal.com profile] fauxbear) and Alex ([livejournal.com profile] darke) before they left. I wish they had stayed a little longer. I sure hope Alex got home OK, and John didn't run in to too much snow. Hopefully I'll get to see them sometime in the future.

We'll be driving in a little while, to my sister's 30th birthday party. It looks like it shouldn't be much trouble. Matty ([livejournal.com profile] mattycub) and Skye ([livejournal.com profile] cristalskye) will be coming along with us. I'm sorry that we won't attend the Freedom to Marry Rally, but we already had plans for the party, and right now, family is first.

Still, it's beautiful. I'm glad to be in Dallas for a lot of reasons, snow being one of them. In Houston it's just overcast and 40 degrees. Here I have snow, and my valentine.
