Is That Big Sausage Kosher?
Dec. 8th, 2003 09:17 amLast night was the Houston Area Bears Holiday Party. I knew only a few of the guys there, but hey, it's good to get out. The whole thing was held at a Ryan's Steakhouse, it's like a Golden Corral, which seemed both appropriate and unappropriate at the same time. There's always the large buffet with tons a food, but then again, there's the total white trash feel of it.

dedos) who was becoming the famous outsider around the place. I made the unfortunate choice of getting the fried chicken, which made a total mess and I guess I looked a little bit like a barbarian. Oh well. I'd say the food was good, but...well it's food made safe for the elderly.
The big deal was the gift exchange. I didn't get a gift and stayed out of the thing. It was one of those events where you get picked and you either choose a gift from the pile, or you go and steal one of the previously picked gifts from someone else. There were tiaras, lots of teddy bears and bear-decorated things. The funniest items were the shaving kit, won by a guy with a very bushy beard, and the very large summer sausage, that was delivered unwrapped, so it was easily seen by everyone. It was a big deal to see who would go home with the two foot kilbasa. The guy who finally took it seemed happy, but embarassed.
Now I'm not too sure that the Ryan's staff knew what kind of group they had in the back room of the resturaunt. One waiter looked a bit shocked by the Bear Films calendar (Hi Larry!), and another was definitely shocked by the dildo that the recipiant sheepishly took out of the bag to show his prize.
I did eventually win a door prize, a Bad Taste Bears Keychain featuring the horny bear.
Miami Chris didn't want to go back to his hotel room just then, and who could blame him, so we ran back to my place, curled up on the couch, and watched Rushmore, that he hadn't seen. I happily played Chamber of Commerce and noted the different locations here in Houston where the movie was shot. A nice end to the weekend.
