I'm in Dallas today, and for some reason, many things had to do with Medicine. I was woken up by the smooth Aussie accent of Seumas ([livejournal.com profile] beardoc, as he had made plans with Clint ([livejournal.com profile] clintswan) to go to breakfast before he left Dallas for London. Chris ([livejournal.com profile] oakleycub) and I would save him from Matty's cat Loki, and take him down to the Gaybourhood for said breakfast, joining in on the fun.

We were having fun talking to Seumas about the differences between the US and Australia, mostly the differences between New South Wales and Texas. What may have spooked him a bit was talking about the concealed carry law here in Texas, and I mentioned that my dad is a concealed handgun instructor, helping people get certified. Yes, it is a different world here in Texas.

Seumas is great (cute, too), unfortunately the Tim-Tams were already packed away for the next leg of the trip, so I didn't get to sample. I know some stores in Houston that carry them, so I'll have to go buy a package.

It was fun to watch Seumas and Clint talk shop. Seumas is in his residency as a doctor, and Clint is a nurse at a Dallas pediatrics hospital. They were going back and forth about lab times, patients, mental patients, and what medical professionals did to relieve stress (not so pretty sometimes). Chris and I followed along the best we could, but I had to admit most of my medical knowledge comes from episodes of "ER".

After a trip to Starbucks, which was filled with fine eye-candy, we moved Seumas' bags (including his new, fancy CPAP machine) to Clint's car so he could run off to the airport. The kiss goodbye I think counts as my first person-from-another-continent kiss!

After that Chris and I ran out to my doctor's office since I had been requested to have some new blood work done to check on my cholesterol and such stuff. We got there during Lunch so we ran to the mall, and saw that The Great Indoors store was closing. There wasn't a lot to see there, though. We went back, got the blood work done, then went to Fry's for more time wasting shopping.

As we were headed back to Chris' house, my sister called and said that Guster was playing a short show and signing autographs at the Virgin Megastore, so we went over. They had unfortunately finished playing, but I got my CD booklet signed. I did see them once when they opened for BNL one year.

After that we went to see Intollerable Cruelty with Laura and Ed. Cute movie. I've always liked George Clooney in the funnier stuff.

Afterwards, we went out to On The Border for some good Tex-Mex and began discussing hospitals and such for a while. Laura being on the hospital building team for the architecture firm she works for gives her a lot of information about how hospitals are run and what they need. Interesting stuff, and interesting the minute little crap people think they need full medical attention for. Crazy stuff.

Oh well, been a full day, so it's time to snuggle up with my baby and drift off to sleep...from Texas, night, Y'all!
