Happy Birthday to Tim, [livejournal.com profile] baraksf and Seth, [livejournal.com profile] slothel!

So today is LJ protest day or something...that's cool, but what helps is more notification...it seems recently made up. Still, the idea is that the whole "Marriage Protection Week" thing is a bunch of crap. Protection from what? Love? Common Sense? Equal Protection? Yes, it's a boneheaded move for the president to support it, but he's obviously playing to his base. It's something that I guess most moderates won't mind for now, but it could become part of the fodder as swing voters are being swayed. I much prefered the counter observation, "Marriage Equality Week". Let's look more into that.

Otherwise, after a busy day writing reviews, on the way home from work, listening to the end of the Red Sox game and the beginning of the Cubs game I decided to stop by Warehouse Music to look for a couple of new releases I want. I should have known better. Warehouse Music has been struggling to stay alive for the last couple of years, and a big part of it is because they don't really stock very well and their service is crap.

In fact, I found that to make their selection look better, they have now put the used and new CDs in the same bins. Nice try guys.

So they didn't have what I wanted, Volcano, from Edie Brickell and The Rosemary Clooney Songbook, from Bette Midler (yeah, say what you will). I was also looking for a dance music compilation I saw on TV the other night, but I can't remember it's name. They did have the new Pat Green CD, Wave on Wave.

Houston is at a loss, due to the former strength of Warehouse when they used to be Blockbuster Music, they blocked Tower and Virgin from coming into town. The best record store in Houston is Soundwaves, and independent store that has everything. The problem is, they have only a few locations. One is in the Montrose, so there, I'm sure I could find Bette Midler, and all of the dance music one could ever want.

Perhaps I'll look this weekend for these CDs, and next week, when the special edition of the Barenaked Ladies Everything To Everyone comes out, I'll make a trip to Soundwaves and leave the used CDs at Warehouse in the dust.
