Wow, Is That Genuine Formica?
Sep. 12th, 2003 02:31 pmIn driving up to Dallas last night, I ran in to some pretty big storms. I still was driving a little faster than most, around 60 when others were going 50, but I felt pretty secure. I listened to the New John Mayer CD, Heavier Things, as I went along. It's good, but I need another couple of listens before I pass judgment.
Along the journey I stopped in one of Texas' fine rest stops. Actually, there are some really nice roadside rest stops in Texas, just the one on I-45, mile marker 215, isn't one of them. It's old, having been built in the 1960's as far as I can tell, and there's nothing as far as amenities. Simple and stark.
Last time I came barreling through on my way to see Chris, the rest stop was closed for repair. I didn't think much of it last night, but was surprised when I got to the men's bathroom area to find full enclosed bathroom stalls. Before, there were only short partitions that didn't even come up to my waist when standing...all very open and not private. Now each stall was enclosed, like you'd see in most public restrooms.
Another sign that the sodomy laws have been overturned.
