A long day in Dallas yesterday, but a good one. After listening to my sister yelling at her boyfriend to wake up *giggle*, I made planned to have lunch with Chris,
oakleycub. We ate at one of the billions of Pappas restaurants that are in our great state of Texas.
We had Chad, the stoned-out waiter. Read this as slow as you can: "Duuuuude, what can I get you two?". Chad would disappear for long periods of time where I know he was trying to satisfy the munchies. He never did refill my glass, dude.
After that, we made our way down to the Gaybourhood and stopped by Zeus Comics. That store is awesome! Much better than the stores we have in Houston. While I'm there, I hear this voice say, "Hey, you're on LJ!" I turn around and say yes, I am, and he says, "That's it, that's the pic right there," as I had my face in a 3/4 profile to him. "You're...", he didn't want to get my screen name wrong, so I provided it, and he says, "Yeah, that's right, I'm
usmarinejock. I said yes, I figured that out from the postings he'd done while in Dallas - and the pictures, which featured
ultraboy, who was at the counter at Zeus. Of course Zeus store owner
dedagda was also at the counter.
So more LJ'ers met. This thing is really crazy, let me tell you.
So from Zeus I picked up the trades of Fables and Y: The Last Man, which people have been telling me to read. So I will.
After walking around more of the Gaybourhood with Chris, and shopping around for nothing (hell, I had already dropped $20 unexpected dollars at Zeus),we went back, and I was supposed
to go out to eat with my aunt and uncle who are in town from New Orleans. Well, that didn't happen as they decided to stay in for the evening at my great-aunt's place.
So Laura, Ed and I were left on our own for dinner. Laura and I can never make up our minds of where to go, so Ed made some suggestions. I had mentioned how Chris and I went to the Gaybourhood, and Ed says let's go to Lucky's. Ed? He then said, "I hear that they have great looking waiters there." Ed? So I look at my sister and say, "I think Ed is confused. He has some unresolved issues here." Laura just laughs, but this becomes the embarrassing topic for the rest of the evening, as both Laura and I pick on Ed's wanting to have the Big Gay Night Out.
Though Kevin, our waiter at Lucky's, was pretty damn hunky. Woof! I was flirting.
Lastly, it's coffee with Skye,
cristalskye, who is as charming as ever. Laura, Ed, Skye and I start at Starbucks (where I'm on-line, chatting with Randy as we're sharing cake and coffee) and close the place down. Not wanting to stop there, we stayed for another 2 hours at a local IHOP, taking in the sights of people who've come in to sop up what they've been drinking for the last few hours.
Then, after saying our goodbyes to Skye, finally off to bed at 3 am.
Now, off to Brunch with more people from Live Journal. No sleep till Brooklyn.
